While I wouldn't trust anything Fox News says, I'd agree they are a decent side and good to watch. Won't get past the last 8 though.

Did you look at Group B? Forget Australia for a second but how is Chile going to march past either Spain or the Netherlands? It's possible, of course, depending on how the group matches play out but the odds are clearly not in Chile's favor to even make it into the round of 16. For Chile to achieve that, one of the favorites - either Spain or Netherlands - would have to go home after the group round. Again, it's possible but not very likely.

It's a tough group. Like most I'd back Spain to top it but I think Chile are a decent side and with the Netherlands players not being used to the conditions I think Chile could turn them over.

We are doing a WC sweepstake at work and I got Iran. Iran! FML

My husband is an American but for soccer my heart goes to England, lol. I am huge fan of Liverpool FC. That's why I always rooting for Three Lions. Brazil and Italy are good for playing soccer as an art.

Russia would win because Putin is strong and Obama weak. Duh!

Didn't work in his favourite and essential win Olympic sport ice, hockey, and he watched their matches. I am surprised any of them are still alive to tell the tale ;)

I actually played intramural in college. You are right. You got to be in shape to play soccer

On that subject, David Beckham was the subject of a time and motion study, during England's World Cup qualifier against Greece, at Wembley, in 2001. Like him or not, the study showed that over the 90 minutes, he covered over 10 miles on the pitch. When you consider that this motion was by no means continuous, that is a remarkable effort. Add to that, with basically the last kick of the match he hammers a free kick past the Greek goalkeeper from 30 yards out, scoring the goal that sent England to the 2002 World Cup.

We didn't win it with him and I seriously doubt we'll even get to the quarters this time around. I just wish we had a player as good as he was in the side today. :(

I have to leave so I'm going to steal the thunder and tell the joke.. now that I re-read the post I may be thinking of a different joke because the person making the patties has to be a man.. but it also involves Donuts so I thought it was the same one.

A woman walks into a dirty old diner where a man wearing a white tank-top that looks like Mel from Mel's diner is cooking burgers on the grill. The woman says "I'd like to order a hamburger please." The man nods his head, grabs a chunk of hamburger and sticks it under his armpit and proceeds to flap his arm to shape it into a patty.

He looks up from his work to see the woman looking at him in disgust to which he says "You should see how I glaze the Donuts!"

Ba-dum-dum

Mine was a woman makes hamburger patties with her armpit. A customer catches her and says " how disgusting!". She replies you should see how my husband makes doughnuts!

Ba-dum-dum!

USA 100 to 1. That means if you bet $10 on them... you'll lose $10

Ref got one goal.

Looking at the chart England have no real anti for Russia, first choice Argentina then Germany.

Can not remember the last time we played Russia in a meaningful match.

After that display I am sure the odds on Brazil have lengthened.

Awful, awful "home crowd" decision by the referee. Let's be honest here - 3-1 totally flattered Brazil. They were woeful for large swathes of that game - Croatia deserved at least a point.

Anyone but Argentina for me.

Agreed. Sadly, they are going to win it though: Messi, Aguero, Higuian, Di Maria? Yeah - they're gonna carve everyone open on their way to the title (but they'll never take The Falklands).
