Why the Anti-Gun left prevents sensible Gun Control

The term assault weapon is a legal term and has a definition that is accepted in US law. If you want to think otherwise, that's certainly your choice.

I believe I just explained why I don't want to ban handguns and it was as honest as I can be.

I'm only talking logic. One causes 200 deaths, the other 9000. Getting rid of which one would have the biggest impact?

If speed is a leading cause of automobile deaths, would banning Lamborghini's make a major dent in fatalities?

If pitbulls bite the most people, would banning poodles reduce dog bites?

If most people caught DUI were drinking beer, would banning 200 year old Scotch reduce DUI arrests?

If one person on VJ disrupts a thread, do you close the thread so that no one else can enjoy it?

OK, so let's ban all guns. No skin off my back.

because black guns with bayonet lugs are so scary. when was the last time someone was bayoneted in the usa?

Assault weapon is a non-technical term referring to any broad category of firearms with certain features. Assault weapons include some semi-automatic rifle, some pistols and some shotguns.

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

While I personally disagree, that makes more sense for someone who believes guns have no place in society other than hunting or sporting uses.

What about self defense? I've advocated for guns for that purpose many times here.

I tried to explain to Teddy in a previous thread that the term assault weapon was created in the 1980s to codify guns, not on performance, but cosmetic features.

I showed how pretty much any so called 'assault weapon' can be made legal by changing a stock or other similar adjustments that have no effect on the firearms core performance.

He resorted to calling it all 'garbage'.

So I'd stop wasting your time with him. I bet he's the type to put a spoiler on his Ford Fiesta and then call it an american muscle car.

Kind of depressing that you are only counting shootings with over 10 deaths. In any country with sensible gun controls more than one death is a mass shooting.

I read that Japan hit a record number of 22 gun deaths in one year. The nation cried out and it caused a scandal. They have the tightest gun regulations and almost zero gun deaths.

Key word hi-lited in bold, the VJ gun aficionados are far from sensible. My guess is the good percentage of them would not be able to pass a mental health check. Which explains why they are against tighter gun control.

That's the point I was making duh. It's depressing there's so many that you have to filter it by only counting shootings where 10 or more died.

Anything less than double digits is simply collateral damage.

And that's the sad part. We've become used to it. No matter how many people are killed in gun related massacres, the answer is always going to be don't infringe on my right to bear arms.

No the answer is, let's not do something absolutely insane that will have no impact whatsoever on the problem, that only re enforces to gun owners, that we are dealing with a bunch of illogical, emotional, people who have no understanding of the issue.

The "ban assault rifles" is always the first thing the Anti-Gun crowd starts talking about, yet assault looking rifles are used in less gun related homicides than any other category of weapon.

Please for gods sake someone explain to me why that could make sense to anyone
