Im at the nvc stage and I submitted the d-261 over a month ago.it showed complete. I called the nvc about 2 weeks ago to ask why the iv bill is not available to pay and they said give it another week or 2.. So I go and review the d-261 and accidently resubmitted it. now when I called today they said they only got the d261 today. so it will be 20-30 days from today :( is there anyway to fix this?

Did you use the print receipt, or email receipt option? If so, call and ask for a supervisor. Tell them you have the receipt and you'd like it changed. I too resubmitted mine but only 2 days later so I didn't bother escalating it, but I've heard others have been sucessful. One more thing though, this will only work if the resubmitted and original submission are exactly the same.

the supervisor also said I cannot send the aos package and the iv packet together. I read on here somewhere where you can send 2 packets in one envelope. sigh.

That's what happened to us too !! our DS-261 was done may 12 we wanted to send our packages together ... after waiting 10 days and the IV fee still not ready we then sent the AOS Package, and i went to check the DS-261 for any mistakes and then couple of days later saw that it was incomplete and resubmitted it ! when we call it they said oh well we just got it on the 27th !!! its been a month now and still cant pay the IV fee :(

And i am not the only one ! this is a new problem i know at least 5 people in the same situation !

This is so not true. You surely can send in both. Many don't because the AOS comes weeks before the IV, But some delay and send together.

It's not against rules. They are clearly marked with their own bar-coded sheets (if you attach the sheets to packages that is) and go to two separate departments.

Having a lawyer doesn't give you favoritism to send together.

If you want to hold your AOS and wait for the IV bill to pay and send together anyone who wants to do so you are free to do so. No harm in it.

I sent both together in the same shipment. Two different envelopes in one USPS envelope. It worked fine. (I don't have a lawyer btw).

I had made a few mistakes on the AOS so I recommend that you go thru it several times and maybe have some one else go over them too. I wish I would have cause I ended up delaying my case because I missed a line. I hope your journey goes quickly.

The most common errors that I've seen on these threads are:

Be sure you put something into the 'mailing address if different from above', even if it's to say 'same as above'. Don't leave it blank!

Be sure your previous incomes are right ie total income for any year filing a 1040, and adjusted income for any year using a 1040EZ.

Be sure to mark some box about being or having been in the military.

Be sure to mark box ?7 where it asks total number of immigrants, as it's tucked a bit off to the side and easy to miss.

Be sure to include all 9 pages!

thank you! iv read where you should not leave anything blank but to pay na if not applicable. I didn't do that...so im hoping that wont be a problem.
