*** Inadvertently double-posted threads merged. Sometimes, VJ burbles and this happens. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Totally incorrect. People using guns committed those murders.

Agreed. There are two variables in this equation then. People and guns. We need to tackle both by controlling what guns people carry and determining which people should carry them. We exercise far more scrutiny when conceding DL's...

Let me throw this into the ring and see what you think.............anyone that has seizures cant get a drivers license with out a document from their doctor stating they have been seizure free for a certain amount of time.....only know that because of my sister that is 17 and wishing to drive...she cant simple as that

so how about anyone that has been treated for a mental illness having to get a document from their doctor allowing them to purchase a gun?

sounds kind of silly but its working for some people that suffer seizures keeping them from legally getting behind the wheel of a car so why not mentally ill people as well in purchasing a gun?

At the moment, there is effectively a bureaucratic mess with the system. IE the official list of prohibited people (for criminal backgrounds) doesn't properly link to medical databases. So the official system used to check on a person, wouldn't even know about the seizures.

How does the DMV learn about seizures? Is it self reported?

Guns dont kill people rappers do,
Ask any politican and they'll tell you its true,
Its a fact music makes you violent,
Like Michael Jackson telling little Timmy to be silent,
You don't believe me? Heres my hype,
Offer me the record and i'll show you the type,
Of criminal this rap is breedin,
Its a fact that MC Hammer left me bleedin,
Vanilla Ice made my mother say '',
If I stuck with UB40 then I woulda been in luck,
But I didn't I got it wrong,
Cypress ###### Hill told me to make a ###### bong,
So I started, I bought another tape,
The Power by Snap made my ####### and balls ache,
So remember kids from the head double tap,
Guns don't kill people its just rap!

Im not sure how they know we did not report it was about the last thing on our mind when the seizures started we found out from the doctor that he needed to give a document stating her seizures where under control and she was a considered safe to drive.

I used to think it was about mental illness, but I'm not so sure anymore. We don't have a monopoly on crazy people, as the POTUS put it, so why are gun deaths higher here than most other countries?

I believe one of the reasons is how much guns are glorified here. A good amount of American children are basically born with one in their hands, and they are raised with the thought process that everything can be handled with a gun if need be.

well we are getting closer to some common ground. I think you have to look at the culture. Most of the kids I know that have handled guns since a young age, are good law abiding citizens that treat guns with the respect they deserve.

It's the glorification in Movies and TV shows of Guns. Look at the Lethal Weapon series. It's ok for Mel Gibson to abuse peoples rights and misuse weapons, as long as he is after bad guys.

Another issue is all the attention these psychos get when they go in a school and mow down 10 people.

Guns are more tightly controlled than ever but we have more gun violence. I am not sure how you think taking my guns is going to help that

The glorification of guns also exists in countries like Canada and Australia though too. Why are their gun death rates so much lower than ours?

Glorified is not the right word. It's a culture now. I saw a post on CNN that made me think about this. If we fought for education, the eradication of poverty, and taking care of our fellow man like we fight for the second amendment, we'd be the best country in the world.

The glorification of guns also exists in countries like Canada and Australia though too. Why are their gun death rates so much lower than ours?

Because here, we love our guns to the point that we can't leave the house without body armor and an armory in our cars.

Im young compared to most on here so this will sound strange but i think its all the stupid games out there that kids are playing that have a lot to do with whats going on.........before our parents put a gun in any of our hands when we were hunting elk or deer we were told look at what one small bullet did a gun is not a toy and you cant get a do over at the destruction it did...we had already been taught to respect a gun at all times another words dont point at a person blah blah blah but looking at the destruction of what was just moments before a living breathing animal really brought home what could happen to a human.

one of my elder sisters used the game system as a baby sitter for her kids when they were young her boy has a hard time with real life he is a hero on the game and very shy and with drawn in real life that scares me.........i know the games have warnings on them of the age bracket they are trying to target but parents purchase them for their kids anyway.

maybe we will never know the real reason why people just go out and commit murder......just thinking about why they would do something like that frustrates me
