More info on FBI name checks...

I keep reading that if you have a very common name, or if you have an arabic or hindi name, you better sit down and drink some patience because this is going to be a looooong ride.

However, I wanted to inquire into what else can delay an FBI check, aside from the usual bureaucratic ineptitude.

Would thinks like traffic tickets, DUIs, disorderly conducts, prior J-1s, detox, or any other 'contact' with police, interfere with your name check?

Funny how people are so quick to judge. By posting the question I have just proved that many folks unfortunately focus on the reason for the question, rather than answering the question. You are probably thinking that I have a detox, a DUI, and disorderly conduct, are you not?

LMAO...none of them. It was an honest simple question to simply satisfy a curiosity on what USCIS sees as moral turpitude. May be it has never occurred to you, but some people just like to know stuff. And yes, I did ask about unauthorized employment the other day...what's wrong with asking about that? I don't know if you had to wait for a long time for situation to be fixed or if you are still waiting...don't know if you had wait months before you worked and that's why you are angry at people that work without authorization. But some people, have to do things in order to survive? Do you know the feeling of waking up one day and learning that you have no home to go back to, and therefore, you're stuck where you are? I do...

But anyway...enough of the personal history...that's not what VJ is for. Sorry about the rant, but I'm upset beyond belief.

Wouldn't those things already have been dealt with or reported on the AOS application and/or an earlier petition. I am not sure that they would slow down the FBI name check a lot, especially seeing that the information has already been provided when applying for the benefit. But I'm not expert.

Try to relax, your AOS is pending and you can ask all the questions you want here in the forum. I was wondering what USCIS considers a "crime of moral turptide" myself and this was the best I could come up with.

What Constitutes Moral Turpitude?

According to the Board of Immigration Appeals, a crime of moral turpitude is inherently base, vile, or depraved, contrary to social standards of morality, and done with a reckless, malicious, or evil intent. In short, this is a subjective, catchall term that can be used for any crime that USCIS considers offensive. For example, USCIS has judged moral turpitude to be present in crimes involving great bodily injury, sexual offenses, kidnapping, stalking, fraud, theft, embezzlement, and bribery.
