I am not following her comment here.. If I read that right she is attacking Muslims for being anti-abortion and anti-gay-marriage and attacking Obama for the opposite view... in the same sentence.. I think.

She's basically a nut job, but they can't really get rid of her because she didn't break any rules. At least that was the take on this morning's news. Another Looney Toon in govt. that were surely have more material for us to discuss later on down the road.

Why should muslims get any different treatment than christians, or atheists? Your city council members don't all agree with your beliefs; should they be removed from office? I assure you that an atheist person in a position of authority, as you put it, will never agree with nor understand a muslim or christian POV. Whether or not they publicly speak out against the various religions, their decisions and MO will be that of a non-believer, and counter to a religious person's desires.

There's a difference between not agreeing and going off kilter because of my religious affiliation.

I spent 37 years as a Christian. Never had a single issue with anyone in regards to my preference. No arguments or fights. I converted May 2011, and in those 3 short years, I've been called everything under the sun. Hell, most of the 2012 Presidential candidates made an effort to let us know how they feel about Muslims and Islams.

You might not agree with which God I serve, but don't treat me differently because of it.

Alas, how can a Christian or a Jew not agree with the god you serve as a Muslim, given that all three faiths worship the one and same deity? What these nubjobs don't realize is that you can't mock Islam without also mocking Christianity or Judaism.

The lady that said this. is a council person equal to the Muslim elected. What law says she can't feel the way she feels. As long as she does not break the law , what do you suggest. Remove her from council ?

I agree with that. In some distant countries Muslims are as intolerant of new ideas as in some Christian countries in Africa. It is not the religion, so much as the rulers and the level of education of the people, that count.

In America however, there are millions of Muslims living their lives as the rest of us, for whom religion is important, and sometimes central, but who at the same time have not relinquished their ability to think and act rationally.

What really surprises me is not that there are Jo Lynns in this world, but the fact she was bred and raised in America. We are so much better than that. Her powers are no different than those of a nutjob of any other religion.

Where have you been? Because in the countries I've visited, this was never the case. And here in America, every single muslim man or woman I've encountered have been nothing but respectful and kind.
