Despite my daughter indicating that she would be unable to attend a ceremony between Jul 2nd - 7th and the IO acknowledging that....you guessed it, they scheduled her oath for July 4th...and on top of that made it the big July 4th shebang at Mount Vernon outside DC. We (her parents) are on vacation during that period and she couldn't possibly get there without a car.

So - how do we go about rescheduling - it says on the bottom of the letter that she can return the oath notice immediately and state why she cannot appear. Its not clear to which office we send this back - anyone know?

No answer to your question, just commentary; wouldn't it be nice to become a Citizen of the United States on Independence Day? It's kind of surprising to me that so many people make the Oath date into being an inconvenience instead of something that is actually meaningful and pretty awesome. I guess everyone feels differently about this but I feel like I want to remember the date I took the Oath forever.

So again I apologize I have no answer to your question to where to send the letter back to. But it will take time for them to schedule her for another Oath ceremony and that of course depends on how often your district holds Oath ceremonies.

Thank you for the comments - that isn't at all the reason why we need to reschedule. while I understand they believe everyone is dying to bleed red, white and blue, some people are a little more reserved

But since you've brought it up and I'm in a punchy mood, the thought of sitting outside all day in the Virginia humidity getting pi$$ier by the minute as I sweat through my clothes doesn't sound pleasant at all. I imagine they'll play the usual cheesy Lee Greenwood song, that would be the icing on the sweaty cake :)

Cheers - normally I'm in a much better mood

LOL the weather certainly does play a role - I didn't realize they would hold the ceremony outdoors!!! That's kind of insanity... I wouldn't want to do that either. Everyone is in their nice clothes and who wants to be a sweaty mess and pass out while waiting to become a citizen?

Well I sent it back to our local Virginia office as I got feedback that its best to do that.

Does anyone know - are we just in line now - do we ever receive acknowledgement that they received our request to reschedule the OATH?

At what point do we say we've waited long enough for a reschedule - a couple months?

How did this work out for your family? I asked for a reschedule due to travel plans and they did, but completely disregarded my dates! So now I need to reschedule again :)
