Hi guys - So I just posted the below in a new topic after looking for other NEBRASKA Service Center applicants without success... And then I found this thread!

Good to see this thread and know that I am not alone in the NEBRASKA issue!

Looking at peoples signatures, it would appear that a lot were wavered from interviewing, and the process is averaging taking approx 4-5 months from application?

Hi guys,

So I am a K1 visa holder, that is now in the US and married (L)

I have mailed my AOS application including the application for EAD and AP.

It was received in Chicago, and the update on my online account says:

On August 14, 2014, your fingerprint fee was accepted and we have mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. Your case is being processed at our NEBRASKA SERVICE CENTER location. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

I have received my hardcopy NOA's for the i-485, and the EAD and AP, and I have also received my Biometrics appointment to attend in the second week of September - So things appear to be in order.

I understand from some threads, that some cases are being sent to Nebraska to help with the volume of applications in process right now, but I couldn't find any VJ threads relating to this after Nov 2013 (Forgive me if I have missed something obvious - I seem to have more trouble navigating this site than my husband does, but he is working full time, so I am dealing with the immigration side of things on my own as much as I can!).

As the Nebraska Service Center does not have a processing time guide for the i-485. I just want to be sure that an error has not been made. I am assuming if cases ARE being over flowed to Nebraska, and they don't normally deal with i-485 applications, then that would explain why they do not have a processing time guide for that particular application?

Does anybody have any information on the i-485 processing time for Nebraska? Or was your case also sent to Nebraska, and you can advise of your personal experience/timeline?

As always, thank you to everyone that posts - You are a bible of immigration information, and it really helps to be able to relate with other people that are in such similar situations!

You case can be transferred there for several reasons.

1. Military member.

2. Fee waiver / Cost Waiver.

3. Humanitarian.

4. Affiliation with government contracts.

5. Expedited request.

6. Request past the due day.

7. Anything that is out of scope (Someone at a desk doesn't know how to answer it promptly.)

8. Labor Day weekend and someone is lazy (transferred so they have a clean desk on Tuesday morning).

9. Your location has more paperwork than the national average and needs to reduce the workload. (Metrics)

Ok, the labor day weekend thing is a joke, hope it got a grin from you. The truth is, they can transfer it at any time for any reason. It is like going through the airport security and getting selected for the TSA search line. Don't look at it as being a bad thing. Sometimes it actually speeds up your case when there are no problems.

i don't think that cases are actually being sent to nebraska - it might be a glitch on the USCIS online status system. my case status said that it was being processed in nebraska too but my case number starts with MSC, aka Missouri Service Center, aka the National Benefits Center. i also spoke to a tier 2 IO recently who confirmed my case was in the National Benefits Center at the time I spoke with him.

if you are interested in comparing processing times, i suggest you join the group of filers who joined in the same month as you (look in the AOS progress forum). lots of people sharing timeline information in those threads. you can also check out what the processing times are like for your local office here: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do

Processing times of the Form I-485 and Form N-400 applications are determined by each Field Office, not the NBC, since final adjudication is not conducted at the NBC. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for the processing times of these applications at your local USCIS Field Office.

None of those are for family based adjustment. They don't process those there.

If you read through this thread, you will see that it seems the cases are not actually going to Nebraska and that it is just a glitch in the update system online. The cases are still being processed at the NBC in Missouri and still have the MSC case numbers from there.
