We received an email from the embassy on 5/28/14 stating that our 6/26 interview had been moved to 6/5. If we didn't want this date then we would have to reschedule. Some people would be happy to get this change but for us it was going to be a major problem. I wrote about this on a Facebook forum I have since quit. I was given a hard to since I was making a statement that the embassy was wrong doing something like this. My reason for posting is so others can gain from my experience and hopefully I am able to help someone and not be chastised because I will not give government employees any slack for doing a poor job.

As you can see from the dates, there was only a week from the email to the new date. Here are the many problems that would have kept us from getting there on 6/5. Annaliza lives in DXXXXX, it's not as if she can hop in a car and drive down the street. There were a lot of logistics around this 6/26 appointment. Thanks to some members here, we decided to have her, the children and grandmother stay in Manila for a week. Get the medical done, then the counseling ending up with the interview. As you can guess, I already bought 4 round trip airline tickets and booked the hotel. Changing those would have just added to the already costly visa process. I still had to send some papers to Annaliza and even with FedX, there was no way they could get there in time.

I decided to take matters into my own hands. Some told me I was crazy, just get a new date and be done with it but I could not do that. I replied to the email, found another email address to send another email and then sent one to the Deputy Chief of the embassy. Annaliza was really worried but all I did in a very respectful way was to submit everything I have mentioned above but added a few other things. One was that I have followed each and every step as I was supposed to, navigating many different government websites and pages. I felt it was important the embassy do the same and honor the time that was selected for Annaliza to appear.

Less than a week I received and email from the Deputy Chief's office stating;

"This refers to your inquiry addressed to Deputy Chief of Mission Brian L. Goldbeck, regarding the visa case of your fiancée, Annaliza LXXXXXXX.

The applicant may come in for the visa interview on June 26, 2014."

It never hurts to ask a question and present your case.

Well, the office of the number two top dog at USEM seems to understand the burden and logistical complications changing the interview date would cause. So those people on facebook and what they think doesn't matter.

Good luck.

face book is ok for the games that are on there but advise from face book users mmm no

sara

Point well made!

I at one point actually thought K1-Visa on FB would be ok but it is actually run by a dictator and at this point I think he is either an embassy employee or a US government employee. He sure got upset when I said something like government employees were messing up the interview process.

I won't waste my time with FB games... way too many important things to do.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am also a member of two K1 FB groups for Filipinas. I rarely respond there though. Since FB posts are rarely peer-reviewed, I would suggest that you don't bother posting your concern/ question there. I have seen a lot of immature feedback from posters just because he/she was corrected for his/her erroneous information. Unlike here in VJ, the mods and admins are there to correct any misinformation.

Great to hear that you received a positive response from US Embassy in Manila! All the best to your fiancee's interview! :thumbs:
