Yeah.. the visa information on the Montreal site are those visas handled by the Non-Immigrant Visa Unit.. K visas are handled by the Immigrant Visa Unit and they have virtually no information on the website...

Thanks guys. I just wanted to make sure it is the right consulate to put on I-129F (I am in Toronto), and I wanted to see their requirements.

I am from Russia and changed names in the past, and the Russian consulate can only issue a police certificate for my current name. Do you know by any change if the police certificates have to list all my previous names or not?

It takes them several months to issue the certificate so I am concerned in advance.

Congratulations to those who got through this process and good luck to those who haven't yet! like us:)))

I cannot dispute your findings from the Russian Consulate but that is certainly contrary to what the Department of State thinks:

Russian law (MVD Order no. 965, dated November 1, 2001) mandates that the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) provide police certificates both to Russian citizens and to foreigners who have lived or are living in Russia. The law states that in Russia, MVD offices must provide the certificate within 30 days. Those residing outside of Russia, both Russian citizens and non-citizens, may either delegate a Power-of-Attorney to apply for the certificate on their behalf in Russia, or apply directly to the Russian Consulate. Police certificates should note all names that the person has used in Russia, and should note the MVD branches in all locations that were queried.

YMMV
