Does employment status matter?

I, a US citizen, just petitioned CR1 for my wife. I used to work prior to my marriage, but I am currently unemployed and I stated that in my G-325a. My wife is currently unemployed as well, living outside of the states. However, we both have hefty inheritance and no immediate plan to work. Would this have any effect on her visa process? If so, should we both acquire jobs and by when?

Thanks!

You should read the I-864, it's instructions, and the I-864p. You are not required to work but you must still be able to sponsor your wife through assets or have a joint sponsor.

So, if I understand this right, is having at least $60k in my bank account enough (to not need a co-sponsor), if I am not working? I am currently living alone and it will be just the two of us when my wife comes over.

$58,986.00 or more to be exact, yes. You need assets, preferably liquid, cannot be the house you are living in, rarely can be your only car.
