Those are important details and I hope we get the facts on the matter sometime in the near future. If he sought out the Taliban, the word traitor comes to mind in addition to deserter. But that is only speculation at this point. And IMO, he should be held accountable for whatever he did in violation of his contract with the US.

IMO, a thorough investigation needs to be done. I'm sure there is plenty of preliminary information already. What violations did this soldier commit? His actions cost some of his fellow soldiers their lives. Is asking for an accounting too over the top? I don't think so.

If you think about it, it is ironic that Obama trades five terrorists for this guy, when if the reverse situation were present, I think we would gladly risk this one "soldier's" life if we had the chance to catch those five killers in the field.

I had already saw that BS article. CNN ran it. So lets attack the Commander of Bergdhals unit. Such cowardice ####### you expect from them.

I have been an infantry soldier. So they got on a dew rag and have their shirt off in the bunker they sleep in . Typical of a unit in the field, and means nothing

I agree. We have the right to ask these questions and find out why this was done now; and as we do it we also have the right to have our answers clear from the noise and interference that pure speculation creates.

It's easy, like writing in a name on a ballot. Just because your answer isn't in the poll does not for one moment mean you can't vote, all you have to do is 'write in' your answer, that's how this thread has come about, we are all writing in our own answers.

Sarcasm is allowed on these forums, they are going to be dull if that is not going to be the case moving forward.
