Congrats to everyone on the interview dates! It all goes SO fast from this point forward.

FWIW, my husband stayed at the Travelodge Montreal Centre (http://www.travelodge.com/hotels/quebec/montreal/hotel-travelodge-montreal-centre/hotel-overview) -- it was $90/night and less than a 5 minute walk to the consulate. He said it wasn't very nice, but it was close and for a one night stay, it was fine.

Now we're waiting patiently for his green card and social security card. Anyone who's recently POE'd -- any updates on receiving either of yours? Just curious :)

Congratulations to fellow Canucks who FINALLY received their interview dates! I know what a relief that is!!

Rowanheather, I just did POE on the 18th and ELIS is all updated. Patiently waiting but no word yet. The CBP officer told me it would be a week or two for the SSN and one to three months for the greencard (as we all know here). I keep checking ELIS just for giggles, as if I didn't get enough of that kind of thing over the last year, lol!

I got the same thing and was also wondering what it meant!! Did nobody else get it?? Hmmmm now I'm worried...

So I just read my P4 carefully and the checklist includes "ELIGIBILITY DOCUMENT"... and the "S" code ("The NVC only received a scanned document. You must present the original document at the time of your interview").

Now this does not mean my passport, or birth certificat, or marriage termination documents as those are all listed separately. So WHAT is that eligibility document?

Ive looked here but most people seem to have received a checklist that used the F code ("The NVC did not request this form or document"). Am I in trouble?

FWIW i got the same request but I had submitted my citizenship card to NVC along with my passport and they wanted to see the original citizenship card hence the request for eligibility documents.

If you did not submit anything like that and only your passport copy then they are just asking for original of that

also congrats on all the may interview dates! They booked these so late, typically its done mid month (the second round of bookings)

My husband's SS card arrived in the mail today. I think you POE'd a day after, so I bet yours in in route. I don't know if there's any way to check status.

What does your ELIS status say? I think my husband's is "In process - Optimized" whatever that means :)

I don't think so. I am going to wait out the two weeks, and if it doesn't come in that time frame I will go to the local office. The greencard could take months, so I'm not sweating it. :)

If you don't have the SSN in 2 weeks, go get it from the SSA office. About 80% don't get it automatically.

Thanks for the info!! I feel much better about it. The interviews were scheduled quite late and I feel a little like I'm scrambling to get everything in order but I can't complain when some people got an interview for 2 weeks out and couldn't even get in to get a medical in time! That's crazy fast!!

HELP!

My husband's accountant filed his taxes as single, knowing we got married in March last year, saying it was no big deal. Now, I just learned that now and I am kind of freaking out cause Saylin's NVC guide makes it very clear that taxes filed as single will be a HUGE red flag at my interview... which is coming in only 20something days!!!

I dont know nothing about US taxes, or how it is supposed to work. All I know is I need this visa to get approved! Is this accountant mistake that big of a deal or is it something I can explain at the interview? If it IS a big deal, what can we do at this point to fix it in time for my interview on May 19th???

Any ANY advice will be greatly appreciated

as I posted in your thread, before it was hijacked, no need to worry! :) Amend the taxes after you have moved.

Accountants and tax preparers often do not seem to understand foreign spouses and taxes. The ones that do charge a fortune!

Yes, and double thank yous for being so kindly helpful and reassuring - I think you could tell I was sort of desperate for advice but I am much more confident everything will go well now! :luv:

What do I need for the interview?
One original of each required document plus one copy? Or is it one original and two copies?

(Ive seen the great big post that had the pictures of a lady's interview preparation, all neatly organized in separated binders, but for whatever reason I keep thinking i need two copies of each thing (which is something she does not mention)).

:help:

I think it's just one copy.

I have my accordion folder all organized. I used those sleeves you can put in three ring binders to organize anything small--cards, plane ticket stubs, etc--so I can pull out those without digging if asked. I'm not including more chat logs because those seem like just a waste of paper. I'm going to do the photocopies tomorrow and then boom. Done and ready.

so freaking excited!!

So I just got off the phone with Sandy at NVC (super nice!!) and asked just for an update on our case status.... she said the dreaded "checklist on the 16th" but then confirmed that was only for the IV fee..... she confirmed that the paperwork has already been reviewed, and all is good there! Woot!! Once the DS260 is reviewed, we will get our case complete!! :D :D

I joked with her about how much fun it was trying to list/remember all the addresses I have lived at since I was 16... she laughed and said it only really matters if you've lived in a different country or such.... but when you've lived all of it in the same city, it's not a big deal......

She told me that at the most it can take up to 60 days for the DS 260 to be reviewed, but they really are not taking that long..... reading between the lines - she cannot commit to a sooner date then some system malfunction cause it to go longer..... I said that was no problem..... ((I've been seeing Canadian EP checklists get reviewed in 20 days or less))

So fingers crossed....... ********any******* day now!!!!

So excited that we're almost there......

Hello fellow Canucks.

Just to keep you all apprised of our case. We logged in yesterday and got three NA's.

Also, wife got a job in the city where we are moving back too.

This morning my wife got a phone call from the NVC requesting her tax returns from 2013, 2014, and her job offer letter. Which is weird because since she hasn't lived in the US, hence she made no income, but made plenty of income here in Canada, so they wanted her Canadian tax return for the years noted above.
