So I just read my P4 carefully and the checklist includes "ELIGIBILITY DOCUMENT"... and the "S" code ("The NVC only received a scanned document. You must present the original document at the time of your interview").

Now this does not mean my passport, or birth certificat, or marriage termination documents as those are all listed separately. So WHAT is that eligibility document?

Ive looked here but most people seem to have received a checklist that used the F code ("The NVC did not request this form or document"). Am I in trouble?

i believe i saw some discussion about this a while ago, maybe NLR can chime in....but if my mushy brain recalls correctly it was additional proof that your canadian ie canadian passport (not just any passport).

Thanks. I feel like I'm on such a tight timeline here! Everything is happening so fast!

yah, just a lil tight.....take a deep breath, all will work out.

Hey guys! Silly question, but since I am getting closer to my NOA2 (UGH), I have been proactively doing everything from packet 3 to get ready, including the DS160 so that I can save it and re-upload it when it's time. My question is about the National Identification Number. What the heck is this? SIN? Passport number? DL? Help! Figured you all would know since you are at or have passed this stage. :)

NIN might be the number punched into your passport and is also the same as the barcode found on pg 3 of your passport. SIN is social insurance number for canadians, passport number the number on your bio-page which also page 2. DL is drivers licence number. hope all this helps.

congratulations.gif?w=714 to everyone who just got their interview dates! YAY!!!

thanks NLR!!! i love all the glam and glitter...i waited almost 18 months for this day!!!

LOVE IT!!!! Will someone mind sharing info about hotels in montreal?

read the recent reviews for the consulate, people usually share where they;ve stayed and what the place was like including distance from the embassy.

they put that in because we ep'd and scanned all documents so they want to see proof that we really are canadian citizens and just seeing a passport or any passport doesn't qualify us as canadian.

yes your cdn passport is exactly what they want to see. ive done extensive googling on this. when people scan docs in the nvc can't be 100% certain they are truly cdn so hence they ask you to bring passport and eligibility which suffices as proof of being a resident in canada legally or a canadian citizen. our proof is our passport, but in someone else case, who may not have a canadian passport, proof they are a resident such as residency papers. we don't need to show this eligibility as we are through and through 100% canadian and our passport shows this. no need to worry any further. :)

Congrats to everyone on the interview dates! It all goes SO fast from this point forward.

FWIW, my husband stayed at the Travelodge Montreal Centre (http://www.travelodge.com/hotels/quebec/montreal/hotel-travelodge-montreal-centre/hotel-overview) -- it was $90/night and less than a 5 minute walk to the consulate. He said it wasn't very nice, but it was close and for a one night stay, it was fine.

Now we're waiting patiently for his green card and social security card. Anyone who's recently POE'd -- any updates on receiving either of yours? Just curious :)
