I am just like you NLR. I have been preparing for months. I am nervous about the i-864 though. Not sure what is to be left blank or have an "n/a" or"none" and I do not want any checklists. Its so hard to get the information though. Which I can understand. Nobody wants to go through all 9 of those forms with you when they have their own case to deal with

in the case of n/a vs none....

n/a is if the question literally does not apply to anyone, not just you, or doesn't apply because the none answer before it, cancelled it out.

Example: other people attached to this I-864: "none" or "0" address: "n/a" Address isn't applicable because there are no other people.

Good answer; A# : "none" (if you don't know it yet) Bad answer: "n/a" because it does apply.

Don't leave anything blank. It's better to have n/a or none indiscriminately throughout or put your address again, than have something blank. I've see hundreds of checklists because people don't put down a mailing address because on the form it says "if different from physical address." Well simply write same as physical address. It's not hard. Or n/a.. question doesn't apply, physical and mailing are the same. Or rewrite the whole address... doesn't take much time!

Even here:

864l.gif

write in the zeros! don't leave them blank! (rlelle09 yours won't look like this. This is my example sheet for people who are sponsoring only a spouse and have no children together. ;) )

I have no problem spending the time to get it right the first time! Here' s what frustrates me - mine looks exactly like this. I was told by NVC NOT to add my children because they are not claimed on my husbands taxes (they have no SSN). I asked repeatedly if this is not a misrepresentation and the rep continuously told me no, because it's based on his taxes right now.

What about part 1. Only 1.a. applies, so we checked that box. Must we now answer 1.b., 1.c., and 1.f. with "n/a" or "none"? I know I ask you a lot of questions, but I am confused by this whole thing.

Oh if they're not his children as well, then no you don't put them on. If they're his children as well, you would.

No, you answers the first question the rest is fine to be blank. Multiple choice is different.

But in part 3, 2a+ I would put n/a in the "first name" spot for each of those. Same in part 6.

Fill out part 4 2a+ and 3a+ with the same address if it's the same.

They are his kids and I informed the rep as well, but she said he will get a checklist. It has to look just like his taxes. Mtlguy here on VJ was told the same thing. Woe is me :-(. Thank you for all the other info.

No his children are his children. I think the NVC person is wrong.

You have to claim your children no matter where they live in the world, no matter if they're on your taxes or not, no matter if you see them or pay child support.

I would ask pushbrk.

I"ll be honest, pushbrk is the ultimate person for any of these forms, especially the AOS. I've never seen him steer anyone the wrong way.

I know, but he doesn't accept private messages! Maybe I should submit multiple i-864's? One reflecting the taxes like NVC told me and one like how we both think it is supposed to be? I feel like no matter what i do i will be check listed..sigh.

Just a little FYI for people using or thinking about using EP, they are NOT kidding when they say it can take up to 30 business days to review received Emails. I sent our IV packet on May 29 and it STILL hasnt been reviewed. The NVC rep said it should be reviewed sometime this week. The 30 day mark is July 11.

Hey NLR!! I have seen the spreadsheet except its not really reflective of the changes made at NVC. At least I have not seen that, but maybe I missed something. The average time at NVC on the spreadsheet is 55 days, i believe this is no longer. Correct me if I'm wrong.
