So my AoS payment status changed to N/A and my DS-261 now says "No Agent Or Attorney Selected ----- Completed" (I really dont remember what it said before, but im pretty sure it didnt say that). I know I completed my DS-261 so I dont know if I should be thrilled because it almost look like a CC is on its way... or freaked out that something went wrong with my DS-261! ARGH!!

if your aos changed from paid to n//a then this is a cc. start calling to confirm.

Congratulations on your CC!

Just to note, my Canadian police certificate was on a legal sheet of paper also. I took a photo of it (as my scanner only does letter sized) and then scaled it to be the right size. Then I took the original to interview. Since November 12th, 2014, the NVC only wants photocopies of civil documents. EVERYONE takes originals to interview.

APPROVED! Oh man after 14 months of waiting it feels really good! Back at my hotel already

A quick recap as promised.

My review is based on snail mail method of submitting my documents to Nvc.

Left my hotel at 6:40 and stopped at Starbucks. Got to the consulate at 7:20. There was already a line of about 6-7 people (but 5 of them were part of two families)

They let us in at 7:30ish. The guard was nice and controlled the line well. Went through security and down to the elevator area. I sat as near to the elevator as I could. At 8 they opened the elevator and we got in. I was # 3 for immigrant visa. There were lots of non immigrant, student, work etc visa people.

Number 1 and 2 got called to the first windows right away. This was around 8:05. They stayed there a long time, probably due to them doing EP and needed to provide originals.

They called me to the first window at 8:35. I was there for only 5 minutes. All she took was medical, passport and passport pics, p4 letter.

The first two people were done their interview at 9. I went in for my interview at 9:05.

He asked me to read the oath and then asked general questions. How we met, where she works, when did we first meet in real life, the date we got married, asked a few questions about the AOS form and joint sponsor. He kept typing and in about 7-8ish minutes he gave me the infamous welcome to usa letter! I thanked him and left.

Went downstairs to get my phone. When it turned on it was 9:14. I checked the ceac site to check if it was already showing administrative processing. To my surprise it was already ISSUED! So at 9:15 I was out of the embassy with an issued visa!

I definitely recommend getting there by 7:15. A lot of people came after and you will end up waiting longer. If you want to leave by ~9 try to be 1-3 for immigrant visa number.

They didn't ask for any of my photocopies, didn't ask for spouses birth certificate. Did not show any additional evidence I had. But better prepared than sorry! One lady had 3 big binders, one photo album and one diary of sorts. She was well prepared lol.

I'm so happy! Gonna go eat and then drive to Toronto. Ask me any questions you guys wants!

Also thank you all for helping me and wishing me luck

I'm so happy to report that my husband was APPROVED this morning!

Here's a few details my husband shared by phone:

Arrived at the consulate around 7AM -- was first in line

Questions asked -- When did you meet your wife?; When were you married?; Was it your first marriage?; What does your wife do for work?; Where does your wife live?; Do you have any criminal history?

That was it! He got his "Welcome to the U.S" flyer and was back at his hotel by 9AM.

He's on the road back to Ontario now.

I can't say how relieved and excited we are. So, so many thanks to this whole VisaJourney community -- you have been such a great source of information and support!

Congrats to you both! What an amazing feeling it must be!! All the best to you!

Trying to get prepared for the next few steps after the interview...

For the immigrant visa $165 fee -- I saw on this USCIS site (http://www.uscis.gov/uscis-elis/immigrant-fee-payment-tips-finding-your-number-and-dos-case-id) that at the time of the interview the applicant was supposed to receive an "Immigrant Visa Fee Handout" that includes the Alien Registration number needed to create the USCIS ELIS account to pay the fee. Did anyone receive this? My husband did not.

Guess I'm just asking when and how we make the payment.

Thanks for all the well wishes on my husband's approval today. We're so excited to finally be at the finish line!

Hi! I am trying to remember how I got mine - I know it wasn't on a handout. I think it was on the email they will send with the waybill number. All of that info is sent in an email, I do remember that. You have lots of time to pay the visa fee. Once he has that email you can register with ELIS and pay the fee. So much with process is changing so quickly it seems. Hope this helps!

Hey, the interview officer handed me that paper while I was interviewing. The Dos case id is your MTL case number. But the Alien registrations number is different than any numbers I've seen before. He handed it to me when he returned my originals during the interview. Ask your husband to check that pile

Edit: you need your dos id and alien registration number in order to pay that fee. That paper has your alien registration number. If you can't find it then maybe call the consulate??

I got my email this morning that passport is ready for pickup at my local loomis location! So that's 3 business days including interview day to get my passport work. I'm so happy!

My husband didn't get the originals returned to him. He asked and the officer said they would be sent to us. He assumed that meant they would come with his passport and he didn't ask any further. Was your Alien Registration number on the email with your waybill number by any chance?
