Day 51, still no email and haven't been able to get through by phone since my call last week (I've tried daily since!)

oh no :( Jeez I really hope you see something or are able to speak to someone soon!! They're open to midnight (EST), any chance of calling after wee one is down for bed?

After redialing (on Hangouts) a couple dozen times, I got through to a rep about an hour ago.... Today is Day 26 (from NOA2) and I'm still waiting for confirmation they have received our cases before starting the Case # clock....

tater....you got to use that redial feature a ca-zillion times....its rare a person gets through on their first try.....its a hassle, we all know this, but its the only way you'll find out if they actually have your case and what the number is.

i've called in the early morning, mid day and late in the evening....and have always had to use redial. i really don't believe there is a 'best' time to call.

UGH! So I did finally just get through and waited about 40minutes.

Spoke with Natalie who confirmed our case was entered into the computer on 02/10 and it will be about 2 weeks from now before I get anything sent to us. Whyyyyy. I asked for a supervisor and explained in only being urgent because I want to get the forms and all sent out now because I'm pregnant yada yada. She said no supervisors were available (after being on hold about a minute) and that I can't wait for one to be. She also said emails can't be sent out manually you need to wait for everything to be reviewed and some cases are "more complicated" than others. I assured her our case wasn't complicated lol. They already have all my stuff I've already gone through the K1 process (approved) and they have access it it all lol. So pretty much she was implying this ish stinks and told me to call back in a couple days. I expressed the problem there and she said generally they are not as busy if you wait until nights. Negative, I've never gotten through at nighttime.

So the unnecessary extended wait continues. Maybe I'll just tell myself they're giving us a Visa without going through the whole process again so it just takes longer now, and then deal with that disappointment when I realize it's not true lol.

And she could not provide a case #!

ahhhhh, well at least you know your case is there and you'll have a number soon. this is good news!!!

but on another note...its the 18th today. if your case was assigned on the 10th then your pretty close to receiving written correspondence if you choose not to call them back in a day or two (to get the number and see that they have email addresses on file).

i bet you are relieved to know something is happening for the better. :)

Do they still have the awful hold messages? A guy and a girl who come on between the music to say "We look forward to speaking with YOU" ?? I only ask because my vet clinic uses the same system apparently. The first time I called and was put on hold I started shaking and sweating and I couldn't figure out why! Then I realized it was the same voices from 2 years back when dealing with NVC!! OK I didn't actually sweat and shake but I had the same feelings come up as the anxiety when waiting to get through to NVC each time.

Supervisors normally only work until 6pm because they're government employees unlike the call center people.

Also theyre open from 7am to midnight est so call early vs late maybe?

A month exactly after emailing our IV Package and filling the DS-260 we finally got our "60 days" letter which states that "The National Visa Center (NVC) received your documents on 20JAN15". Yippeee!

I called and talked to an agent about 2 weeks ago who told me they have little or no way of knowing whether an email has been opened - and therefore if the 60 days clock is started. I was worried they might, once again, talking their sweet little time... but no! Im really happy! Now, if only we could know for a fact already that we wont get checklisted!!

Quick question: does the 60 days timeframe includes weekend or is it just business days?

its 60 days, not business days. So holidays and weekends included. Although it seems like they are around 66 days now with all the recent closures they have had due to weather.

Just my humble opinion here, but I think there is more of a chance of physical papers being lost than actual emails. Granted my docs went through NVC before this backlog hit in force, but it seems to me that there are no fewer frustrations with snail mail than EP. But absolutely each to his / her own. Best of luck to you whichever way you decide to go! :)

FWIW, My husband and I decided to go with snail mail. We didn't have any problems at all, and we sent in our original documents -- but we made that decision WAY back when EP seemed to be taking a bit longer. Having the quick confirmation that our documents were received was reassuring.

Good luck to you -- I think you'll be fine whichever way you choose :)
