Woot!!

Our I-130's were approved on 01/23! YAY!!

NVC, here we come! Please be gentle ;)

LOL!

Data-mining through the spreadsheets, I developed my own timeline for when we could expect each milestone based on the averages.... with no checklists (please! please! please!) we should be able to get a Case Complete the end of May, and hopefully a July interview..... Yay for Montreal in the summer! LOL :) And if timing works out, we may be up there for the Just for Laughs festival :) :)

Hi ChristinaG!

We got through NVC in 4 months, my interview in Montreal is set for Feb 10. I have noticed that the wait times are creeping up and people are waiting longer for Case numbers and invoices, and docs will be reviewed in "at least 60 days" now...but having said that, with Canada using EP, EP seems to go a little quicker. Best of luck to you for a smooth journey through the murky waters of NVC. my thoughts to you - if you guys qualify to use the I864EZ, I highly recommend it. It seems a lot of people have trouble with the I864 and receive checklists. We used the EZ and breezed through with no checklist.

Again, good luck and best wishes on your journey :) !

Thanks Dualie!!

we do have the EZ versions ready to go - sorta... just need to check the income numbers a few thousand more times before we can submit them ;) LOL!!

Ever since we filed the I-130's, I have been reading the monthly NVC threads - yes, all 100+ pages each month..... it has been really useful seeing what others get checklists for so that we can (hopefully) avoid the same errors!!

***fingers crossed***

Best of luck at your interview!! Hope it's not too terribly cold! ;)

Thanks! Another hint...if you are using IRS transcripts that were emailed to the petitioner in an attachment, you MUST save them and print them out, and scan them as new documents or NVC won't be able to open them. That happened to us, and luckily it didn't cost us too much time. Those IRS digital files are password protected so they have to be scanned into PDFs from a print out. That was our only hiccup.

Good luck!

My experience with NVC has shown some major variation in their email-opening abilities. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that they'll send you a receipt (and start that 6o day clock) soon!

So after 11 days and still no "60 days" email, I called NVC. A couple of times before finally getting a line. Then waited. :clock: 93 minutes! (I know that damn waiting song by heart now...)

The nice lady who finally answered could not help at all. She said that the system does not allow her to see if my email was received or not, and that it might or might not show in our case later. She seemed to say that the 60 days does indeed start when they receive the email, and not when the open it - and that there is technically no reason that the email would not have been received on the same day i sent it. But again, no way to verify. Basically, they scan physical paperwork in their system and therefore get a specific date for that, but as for email... well let say its pretty much twillight zone.

Now I sort of wish we had chosen to go the good ole snail mail way...

(Anyone has any insight about this? Do you know if my 60 days clock does indeed start when the email is sent/received? Are we still on a 60 days timeframe or more than that? ANXIETY!! :crying: )

Hi,

Not to fuel the fires of anxiety, but my personal experience has been that the 60 day clock starts when they choose to open the email (not the date stamp of when I actually sent it). We received an AOS checklist (for the tiniest detail) and were able to respond to it the day we found out. NVC chose to open our email 3 weeks later (despite us calling several times in the interim). When our 60 day letter arrived and was date-stamped 3 weeks after we sent the email, we called NVC to ask that the letter be "back dated" to the date it was actually emailed. Fat chance! So, 21days+60 days...

I hope your experience with NVC is much different.

Keep us posted,

From what I am reading lately, EP has been sightly quicker. You may not "see" movement as in emails and such because their emails can be generated at odd times, or not at all. Calling for scan dates seems to be the more efficient way to find out dates. EP is quicker however because IF something is "lost" or "not received" It can be sent immediately without the risk of mail or courier losing or misplacing anything. This is just the way I am seeing it anyway, and it is far easier than handling all that paper. Good luck! :D

Hello all,

We received our NOA2 on Dec 15 2014 and our letter states to email if we don't receive contact within 30 days. A week and a bit after those 30 days I emailed them, and have done so four times now and have yet to receive a reply. I inquired with USCIS because we moved since this date so we a) updated our address and b) was asking if there is anyway I can get a hold of them by phone.

I am currently in the US visiting my USC husband with my USC daughter and am expecting in June. We don't want to be separated long after the baby is born so this wait simply for contact is getting a bit ridiculous. We filed for i130 but I used to be a US resident after going through the process on a K1 visa in 2010. Last time we were given a phone number and it was super simple. Is there still a phone number? I can't seem to find any.

Thank you,

Tina

So apparently it is not cold enough in Winnipeg...we had to go to Montreal to get frostbite..lol!! Hubby and I landed just before 1 PM and managed to find our way to where the buses run from. The bus pass (Opus) for a week now costs $25.50, plus the charge for the card itself - $6.00, which totals $31.50. Still a good deal considering a taxi would charge $40 or more for one one-way trip from the airport to the hotel. We are going to be here 8 days, so well worth it. The 747 takes you right into downtown Montreal where everything is.

Blowing snow with a -31 degree windchill...sweet, but it can't damper our spirits. We are nearly done with this! Will share more as it goes. I have my medical at Medisys tomorrow morning at 11:15, and then we are literally free and loose on the city until my interview on the 10th. Good luck everyone! I will check in as things progress!!
