I was reading the interview preparation thread and came across something about needing a biometrics appointment. Is this just fingerprints and is it done at the consulate on the day of the consular interview? Or is it something separate? Thanks!

Yes it's just fingerprints done at the US consulate in Montreal.

If you were doing it in the USA, you'd have to get it done separately.

Can anyone with recent experience at Montreal embassy tell me if petitioner is allowed to the interview?

i checked the Consulate's website and it states that only an interpreter and/or parent for a minor child can accompany a visa applicant.

Absolutely they can. Just bring proof of ID, preferably their passport.

Thanks Coloradofamily for replying.

The NVC instructions also say that if you can show that you qualify for benefits with the social security statement, then the correct form is I-864W.

I am hoping that when we go to the interview and demonstrate that I have a firm job waiting for me, and also adequate assets, that they will accept the I-864W.

I just don't know if asking applicants to bring the original I-864 and tax returns is a standard request from the consulate.

The bolded part is true. It's just a standard non-personal letter.

yes I did look at all three links you sent. Thanks very much, that is a good find on your part.

I also printed the relevant pages from the foreign affairs manuals, talking about the 40 quarters of work and AOS waiver. I am planning to take them to the consulate for the interview.

I think that we are fine. Did you get a chance to look at any of the foreign affairs info from the links that I sent to you?

Thanks, NLR. I feel better now. Coloradofamily, you hopefully should feel better also.

The bolded part is true. It's just a standard non-personal letter.

Our cases are finally complete. Now I need to start to prepare for my interview.

Do we need the entire DS-260 or just the confirmation page?

I would also like to know if we can bring cell phones to the consulate. I cant seem to find consulate specific info as to what we can or can't bring.

Just the confirmation page is required.

As for the cell phone, you can bring it, but once you go through security, they will keep it and give you a ticket with a number. You will only be able to retreive it once you are done and leaving the consulate.

That's great news, because I will need to call my husband right after. I won't be able to hold the news in! Lol!

I'm a little confused as to what I should bring. My husband and I have 3 children - 2 together and one is mine from a previous relationship. We live together in Canada, but in terms of "bona fide relation" I am bringing a copy of our lease, and CRBA's for the children we have together and I guess a few pictures. Anyone have any suggestions?

The proof that you've lived together and have kids together is more than enough. They rarely ask for relationship evidence in Montreal. I can't remember the last review it was needed with. You will need lots of proof of domicile in the USA however.

Bring something for the kiddo who is immigrating to read or do. Don't bring a purse or a bag. The security scanner is tiny.

In the morning I'm taking the train to Montreal for my medical...It's so weird that it's finally here. I'm picking up the results next Wednesday.

I didn't not originally submit much in the way of relationship evidence, we've been married for 6 years in January and have a 3 year old. I gave them our now old lease with both our names and our son's birth certificate with both our names. Is it worth it to print out some pics, bank statements with both our names etc. or does it really matter?

Nope you do it at the interview. They take your fingerprints digitally while you are there. Bring all your originals if you haven't sent them. Apparently they're asking for the USC's original birth certificate too so bring that and any divorce decrees they may also have (just to be on the safe side.) Any marital evidence is good too but they don't normally ask for a bunch.

I forget if you guys live together in Canada or not. If so make sure you have very good domicile proof.

Make sure your medical is already done and in your hand before the interview as well. Sign up for Loomis once your case says "ready" on CEAC and print out the confirmation. You won't get in without that. Leave any large bags, electronics, etc, in your hotel room or car. They will give you a security tag for a phone or a keyfob, but not for a bag or purse.

I just found this Canadian forum today!

Just got a case complete and interview scheduled for Montreal today!! I haven't even received the email yet so they scheduled the interview 3 weeks from now...not a whole lot of notice! Getting my vaccinations done on Monday, Medical is scheduled in Vancouver on Wednesday and hopefully that's all i need besides our proof of marriage (via photos?) and all our original docs. I just saw we need the USC birth certificate as well?? What if he was born in Italy? Is a copy of his passport ok?

Oh my gosh! Getting so stressed since there's barely enough time!! And on top of that we had a vacation planned from dec23-jan 5th in boston to visit my in-laws so looks like i'll be headed to montreal straight from there!

Thanks NLR! We do live together in Canada. I have a job letter for my husband and a lease agreement between us and my in-laws.Also, I have email correspondence between us and the schools our children are going to. I will be contacting them again so that its more recent. I have a copy of my husband renewed driver's license (renewed in 2013) and estimates from moving companies to transport our stuff to the US. Does this sound like enough?
