As I get closer to my interview I'm getting more and more paranoid lol. My police check has my finger prints and everything on it, but it only has my married name printed on it. Does it need to include my maiden name? It passed NVC, so I'm thinking it's ok....I just don't want too be put in AP right before Christmas (which will inevitably slow things down considerably) to get the correct police check. The NVC website says the search should include all names, which I'm pretty sure I gave them (it was so long ago), but they only printed my married name, but I'm thinking the names are less important if the finger prints are there.....ok now I'm rambling.

I am thinking that if it was okay for NVC, it will be okay for the consulate. It's okay to ramble...if I were you I would be the same way. As we get closer to the "end" of this journey, it is difficult not to over-think things. I am making a conscious effort to not go over stuff I already sent. I am purposely leaving it be, and if I get a checklist, I will worry about it then. Who knows though, by the time I am going for my interview I will likely be a basket case. I feel the anxiety grow each day now.

Good luck with your medical and interview. :)

I resisted the urge to pour over all the attachments I sent to NVC. DH moved all our stuff down on Sunday and all I have here are clothes, toiletries and stuff for the medical/interview so I was going over everything again recently and it stuck out to me...I thought i read on vj it needed both names but I can't remember where, or if it even applied to Canada. I was convinced we would get a checklist at the NVC stage and we didn't...I just need to stop making myself crazy.

I need some advice and opinions.

I am the US citizen petitioner filing from Canada for my husband. My husband is eligible to file I-864W which is what we did for NVC and got through without any checklists. My husband worked in the US for over 10 years and hence has enough social security credits accumulated.

Our interview is Dec 17. Now the Montreal Embassy is asking for I-864 from me, to be presented at the interview.

I have a firm job offer in the US, and I will be taking the offer letter.

I have been filing US tax returns so that will not be a problem.

Thanks in advance

One more question for Montreal interviewees:

Is it standard to receive an email from the consulate asking to bring the following for the interview?

_passport pictures.

-I-864

-most recent year US tax return (2013).

Or is this email personalized for each applicant?

That is typical for Montreal.

I forgot my original birth certificate (petitioner) and had a friend overnight it for us. They never even asked to see it!

I attended the interview with my wife and I didn't even get / have to be there for the FOUR minute interview.

Could anyone tell me approximately how long it takes to get the confirmation email of the interview date/time from the NVC (or does it come from the Montreal consulate)? My husband's case was finally closed on November 10th. It took 3 frustrating weeks to hear anything back from the NVC regarding interview scheduling, and I never got the original confirmation email that his case was closed at the NVC. I called the NVC on Tuesday and got the news that my husband's interview date has been scheduled for January 5th. I know it's only been 2 days since that happened, but I'm worried that I'm not getting these emails. His medical exam is next week on Tuesday December 9th, so I'm hoping it will arrive by then. Does it matter whether he has that letter for the medical exam, as long as he provides his case number? Thanks for any advice!

You need the interview letter, but not the case complete email. Our case was completed November 6th and I never got the case complete email. My interview email came the day after I called and got my interview date.

Depends where he is going for the medical. Medisys asked to see my interview letter but I don't know about the other doctors or if Medisys still asks for that.

If you don't have the interview letter by Monday, call first thing and ask for it to be sent. Also check your junk mail. ;)

I hope you can help me on this one. My husband has his IR-1 interview in Montreal Dec 17. We both live in Canada. My husband is eligible to submit I-864W because he worked in the US for over 11 years and thus has enough social security credits to qualify. So we submitted I-864W to NVC, along with social security statement a sproof of eligibility to use I-864W. We got approved without any checklist.

Today we received an email from the MTL consulate, which I am coping below:

Good morning Mr. XXXX

In reference to your immigrant visa case, please bring the following additional documents on the day of the interview:

- Two recent passport photographs on white background

- Affidavit of Support I-864 from your US Petitioner

- 2013 US tax returns from your US Petitioner (1040 and W2)

If you have a joint sponsor, please provide:

- Affidavit of Support I-864

- Affidavit of Support I-864A (if applicable)

- 2013 US tax returns from your joint sponsor (1040 & W2)

- Photocopy of proof of status in the US

I have been living in Canada since 2008 hence have no US income. I have filed US tax returns each year and I have tax transcripts. In addition we do have assets to qualify.

I have a firm job offer letter, with start date, salary etc from an Ivy league university. We will take this letter for the interview

We will be taking the original I-864W, social security statement, etc.

I have moving quotes.

I have letter from campus housing saying that I am on waitlist, on highest priority.

Is this email from the consulate standard for most applicants?

Should I take a filled I-864 and use the assets portion along with bank/investment statements, as a precaution?

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Even with emailed docs it takes up to 60 days to get confirmation they've been reviewed and added to your case file. Also keep in mind it is the consulate that makes the final determination on forms etc... So while the NVC adds the AOS to your case file and tries to make sure it's correct and filled, they do not approve anything.

If your husband can send the I-864W you should not be doing any I-864 or I-864EZ. Only send the I-864W along with the proof of his eligibility to use it as per the instructions.
