I started to look at hotel rates...not the cheapest. We are from Ontario and probably going to do the drive so we also have to factor in $25.00 per night to park, on top of the hotel price. Sure adds up quick.

We are from ottawa and so we decided to take the train. Save the parking and the hassle.

We're coming from Ottawa. I'm going to drive the night before and just stay one night. It's only 2 hours or so depending on traffic so I'll probably go do the medical and come back the same day the week before.

We got a 1pm Medical and left Ottawa before 10:30am. We parked under the building where the medical was for 17 dollars. We were back in Ottawa before 6pm.

$17 for parking on top of $300 for the medical, plus a bunch of passport pictures....yikes!

We are coming from Kitchener, so going to do the medical in Toronto. Then my wife and I are going to make a small vacation out of Montreal.

Does anyone know if there is parking at or near the Consulate in Montreal?

FYI... a friend told me about the via rail seat sales... They do discount Tuesdays. Every week I get the email... the Toronto to Montreal run is usually under $150.... which isn't too bad (save on gas & parking - and sanity of travelling with kids ) _{There are also some great sales on Porter airline which could be an in & out trip (( the flight was less than 3 hours... it could get us in and out of Montreal the same day so no hotel))..... We're still at the USCIS stage and have quite a ways to go yet}

I got my interview date today, December 18th at 10am

I recieved them in Alberta the next day and some have in BC the next day. Locaction doesn't speed up receiving the visa, just keep on top of Loomis after CEAC says issued.

Hey all! Just wanted to give a little update on our case. My husband did(of course) get his passport back from the consulate but unlike my friends raven and sylea it took a full week! Our interview was on Thursday Oct. 23 and loomis didn't send a pick up notice untill Wednesday the 29th.

Congrats to you both !! my status has said issued since yesterday afternoon and got the email from loomis last night with tracking info and as of this morning it apparently is here just not rdy for pick up.

I got my visa in just over 24 hours, and I'm in interior of BC.

It looks like I'm joining the lucky group. :bonk:

I had my interview (approved!) on Mon. It has changed to "Issued" on Wed.

I called Loomis today and gave them my reference number. There was no package in the system.

I hope I receive something (email or passport) tomorrow! Fingers crossed!

Not exactly NVC-related but interview completed and welcome letter in hand!

Forgot the Loomis receipt (apparently different from the confirmation?) and I-864EZ original but they printed the scanned version and I re-signed.

My birth certificate didn't come up at all. The interviewer said it was a "just in case" thing.

Hello interview triplets!! December 18th, 10am. Got my interview email at 1:45am this morning.

Yay, another December 18th buddy! I just booked my medical for the 9th at 1pm. It's $78 round trip on via so I think that's what I'll do for the medical. DH and I are going to stay overnight for the interview, so we'll drive over for that. After so many months of waiting it all seems to be happening so fast now. I was looking at my work calendar and assuming the interview goes well, I don't have much time left there.

Train here as well (from Toronto). VIA sends me regular 50% off emails. And I can walk to the hotel, the consulate and back to the 'gare central' after! Easy peasy!

Ha, a few of us on here from Ottawa =) I actually had my medical yesterday at 1pm. I left at 10am which gave me more then enough time to stop for gas and at Tim's. Everything went smooth I was back home by 4:40 (i'm actually in Orleans). They did tell me that it's 3 business days before I can pick up my results. I'll just be picking them up the day before my interview.

I too will be staying overnight for my interview, got a room at the Courtyard, about 1 block away for a decent price, plus $25/parking.

Loomis registration question:

I received the packet 4 email from NVC with my interview date (Dec 17). However the packet 4 makes no mention of Loomis. Should I be receiving another email from the US Consulate with Loomis registration instructions? Do I have to wait until my CEAC status says Ready then register for Loomis?

When you go to the NVC.state.gov.interview page and select the mtl consulate that's where the info for registering for courier services is. I did it the same day I got the email.
