I just thought to share with you I got my case COMPLETED last week Thursday June 5th (my husband called NVC yesterday). It took 5 weeks for me (EP) . Now I have to wait for interview!!

Awesome!!! :dancing:

Any secrets that you want to share? There's been much talk here about EP not being any faster but in your case, seems to have worked just fine.

This is great news.

Good luck with your interview.

THANKS,

I thought 5 weeks from sending all documents wasn't fast compare to snail mail. The NVC processing stage took for me 4.5 month.

One thing to remember if you use EP, when you send scanned PDF docs send as many emails as you need. That's what I did, after NVC told me they were not able to open my docs I have sent as a link in my gmail.

My husband moved back to the US just prior to sending in the I-130 petition, so no domicile issues.

The NVC thread is still a vast catalogue of advice even though it moves fast and has other countries involved.

For example, you've stated you are using an attorney, and there are a lot of stories from the other thread which would make me quickly lose the attorney and do this alone, as they are not intimately concerned about you losing a few days or weeks or even months while the paperwork sits or mistakes present themselves and you get checklists. :bonk:

Whereas individuals who want each and every day to be minimized will have the paperwork ready in advance and have checked and rechecked and used the advice from those on this forum to get things done efficiently and accurately.

There are many threads on moving advice, and because of following them over the last 9 months or so, I'm using U-Pack :P

Hi Lakehouse - just to let you know Upack does not service my area but thanks for the info. Had a good chat to our lawyer this morning and she's got everything ready to file once we have our case number, save my police certificate, which I should get any day and will have to courier to her. She figures I'll be interviewing by August, so that's good news. Be nice to be there for my first wedding anniversary at least!

Namaste.

IR1/CR1 do not book their own interviews like K1 do. We have to wait for the NVC to give us an interview date. That's why it takes a longer for K1 to get interviews in Montreal because for once in the process, they give IR1/CR1 preference. But you guys can always keep checking back and book sooner while we're stuck with a date.

you would have to finish NVC in by the end of this month for that to happen and considering how slow they are, I kind of doubt it. I would plan for a Sept interview at the earliest.

I agree NLR - September was kind of more the timeline I had in mind. Nevertheless, it's nice to think positive. I know I'll be there before year end, and that works for me, even though I'd like it to be sooner.

But after 5 and a half years, another few months really isn't a big deal. At least, that's what I keep telling my self. LOL

Peace.

Been here (in the USA) for a year today. Rather surreal.

Thanks, but I need to wait for NVC to schedule interview for me, and I do not know if I have any chance to get one in July.

Buy the way was it in Montreal embassy?

Oh I bet. I'm thinking a lot about the adjustments I'll have to make once I'm there. Funny how a while ago quitting my job of over 28 years seemed like it would be awesome, but I'm starting to realize how much I'll miss my work and my colleagues. They have been my other family for a long time. Also the idea of 'losing' my independence. I've been a career working single mom for a long time, always supported myself and my son (and my ex husband for a while), so it'll be very strange to be relying on someone else for a time.

I was SO heartened to find out about the Employment Insurance option - that will be a very helpful bridge while I get settled and look for some kind of work......

I get bored so fast not working. My house gets REALLY REALLY clean. I don't like cleaning in particular.

It's pretty rare. It does happen but majority of the world must send the documents via snail mail. I suggest a courier. At least you can get replacements if needed.

For example I needed a new birth certificate from BC when I lived in Alberta (for my passport, I got the long form which was helpful for this process actually too LOL), I was able to order it and have it delivered in 3 days with an expedite fee.

NLR _ Hahaha, that made me laugh.

We have 2 acres of property so I expect I'll be busy building the garden - hubby's been waiting till I get there so we can do stuff like that together. He bought the house for us in 2012, and hasn't really done too much with it, again waiting till I'm there and we can make such decisions together. I can hardly wait.

I think I may do some volunteering as well, but we'll see how it goes. I fully intend to get work of some kind after a few months, but will use EI to help me bridge the gap during my 'adjustment' period.

If it wasn't for VJ, I never would have known I was even eligible. So much great info on this site!!

Peace all.
