Timeline

not 'current' - but expectations...

1. 30 to 45 days between filing I-130 and I-130 approval.

2. 30 to 90 days between I-130 approval and interview date - with filing DS-260 online and fee payment and self-scheduling at ustraveldocs.com/cn

on 2 - you two control the pace there - mostly depends on how fast you 1) pay the fee at CITIC and 2) self-schedule online with ustraveldocs.com/cn

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Heres my time line. Background of application my wife is a US citizen, I am a British citizen. Both have been working in Shanghai for a number of years so we qualified to do DCF in China as we were advised this would be quicker than filing in the UK or the US.

DCF at Beijing Embasy - March 13th

Priority Date - March 28th

Approval of relative Immigrant visa petition - April 1st

Notice to submit DS-260 / Copy of ID pages / Photos - April 15th

Scheduling of appointment e-mail - April 29th

Medical - May 16th

Interview - May 27th

Submitted supplemental documents and passport for visa processing - May 29th

Last CEAC tracking update status 'administrative processing' - June 5th

Hourly refreshing of CEAC site waiting for status to change to 'issued' - Every day!

Visa status changed to ISSUED Jun 13th.

Can anyone give me an insight into how long it will take before the passport is at my nominated CITIC bank branch?

I am hoping to fly on the 19th or 20th. Is this realistic??

  • 10 months later...

There is no fee payment at citic for DCF.

Current time lines seem to be about 2-3 months, but 2 months seem the norm if you fill out everything correctly the first time. Longest part of the process is awaiting approval of i-130 and then finding appointment as soon as possible.

Brassmonkeychina . . . you are saying that you were basically given your visa, permanent residence in 3 months time? The entire process, from I-130 to Visa Application (online, right), interview, issuance of visa, etc. all took only 3 months and not 12 months?

I live in Shandong and required to go to Guangzhou, as you know, a long way away. Even with the new high speed train, it's a 10 hour train ride away. Flying there is actually cheaper than the best, fastest train. I want to wave to reduce the time as much as possible to get my wife's visa and thus starting with the I-130, so DCF would likely help, right, as opposed to sending my I-130 to the U.S. Chicago lockbox. My circumstances are different of course, but really, as long as the things are filled out and document provided properly, and there are no mistakes and "questioning or doubt" of some fact, I have assumed it will take 9-12 months for my wife's visa process. I consider my "situation" as being complicated - but only for the Affidavit of Support as I'm in China now too for 10+ years - so I need to return to the U.S. to restablish "domicile (residence)." But, assuming I follow the rules and instructions and have necessary documentation, and such, I'm curious how you got your visa in 3 months when people say it takes a full year.

My wife is Chinese, but I assume that makes little to no difference compared to your British citizenship.

Can you comment on your length of time or on DCF versus mailing to Chicago? I need to be efficient as possible or I'll be stuck away from my daugher and wife for (assuming) 9+ months.

Being prepared with documents and filling out forms is likely the most important thing, rather than "situation" I'm sure.

** Anyone else have experience with the Guangzhou embassy direct filing times ? **
