Hello all! I just thougt of a new question :dancing: I'm sure this is posted somewhere, but can't seem to find something...

After conditions are lifted via the I-751, is the GC good forever, or has to renewed? If so, every 10 years is it? Also if so, do you use the I-90, or this is only for a lost card? Or is it somethign else, and how much is the fee? Biometrics as usual?

Easy stuff...I'm sure a whole lot of people can answer this quickly.

Thanks!

Hello,

It is good for 10 years and you have to renew it (every 10 years). The form use is I-90 it cost $450 and yes biometrics as usual is needed. When you go for biometrics they take a picture of you and also stamp your old green card with an extension of about 6-9 months so you can travel with no problem in case you have an emergency or something. It takes about 3 months when you renew it to receive your new Green Card by mail.

Man, that sucks! 10 years isn't so bad though...probably better to just go the N-400 route though and skip renewing since both cost about the same and then it's done done.

Thanks for the detailed response brotha!

I totally agree with you. My green card should expire in 2015 but last year I decided to complete the N-400 form instead of renewing my green, it cost $680 and good forever except for the passport that is only good for 10 years and cost $135.

Yeah but either way you'd have to pay for a passport...either US or for you one for DR.

Speaking of which, the first time my wife and I actually met was in Punta Cana!!! It was great! ! But I think we also picked the right area...hotel...it was the perfect time, surroundings, everything. We're going back in Christmas, and her parents will also fly there from Russia. :dancing::dancing::dancing:

Yes, you are correct about the passport renewal.

Wow, I am glad you had a great time there. I am planing to visit Punta Cana when I go to my husband's interview hopefully this year. That's great, I'm sure you all will enjoy it.

It is good for 10 years. If you want to renew it, then you have to file I-90. You will ask to do biometric, photo again and it will take 7 months to have GC now ( not 3 months ). It is better to file N-400.
