My question is in regard to after obtaining GC for a parent. How long can a parent stay out of the US without losing status. If they do stay out of the US what are the requirements to do so legally and if for some reason they stay out for more than recommended, what are the repercussions on the GC. If one loses their GC, can someone reapply for status adjustments...any information will be appreciated..

ditto

the reason for having a GC is for living here, she can visit but she has to live here more than she is out of the country. The ideal is less than 6 months

they could file a reentry permit if the wish to stay out of the country for more than 1 year and up to 2 years, but not every year, and it has to be justified

if the decide that they aren't interested in the GC for now and loose it, then you can start the process all over again, but don't do it unless they are willing to live in the US, you would waste time and a lot of money
