The NRA is the heart of the problem.

I shoot at a gun range that is in the basement of the town hall in the middle of town. It has been there around 1930's. Homeland Security has used it to qualify for their agents in the past. It depends on how it is set up. I have a friend that shoots in his basement .22 with no problem. It is located in town.

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. They are going to help us live the good and just life, even if they have to lie to us and force us to do it. And they detest those who stand in their way."

Again, I am surprised that there are no laws governing firearm discharge distances from dwellings and public roads like we have in MA. Here in MA, it is 500' unless you have the owners permission. So even if I am the owner, I have to be at least 500' from the nearest house and public way. It would never be allowed in a congested neighborhood like the one shown here. Why does the allow it?

I don't think firearms should be discharged in any urban area. The neighbor's across the street from my childhood home (Missouri - Saint Louis) have their house rattled with birdshot quite often. They call the Sheriff and the authorities say they can't do anything. Another neighbor a few years back shot a rifle in their backyard. The authorities didn't get involved as the neighbors came down hard on the guy.

Where I live, its even illegal to shoot an air gun in the backyard (which is sort of silly).

It normally comes down to a city or county law.

Remember, we're talking about Floriduh here, my friend. The Gunshine State. Our legislature in Tallahassee is a wholly owned subsidiary of the NRA.

Normally. Not here. It's state law that prevents the locals from enforcing sanity. They want to but they can't.

I don't really know too much about FL laws in general, just a few blurbs that have appeared here once in a while. I can't believe that there are no guidelines on where firearms can be discharged, especially in populated areas. We're not talking about the back woods of Maine in this case, it looks like a densely populated area. I wouldn't do it even if it was allowed, just on the odd chance that I missed the target backstop and an errant bullet could end up anywhere. It's hard to believe that this is even true. It sounds like something from the Onion.

I also find it hard to believe. We don't have the whole story I promise you

Actually, it is. This isn't the only legal private back yard gun range in the state. State law allows it.

Just a matter of time before they bring back dueling and saloons.
