Ok, So I've gone and filled in the N-400 form.

I've had my Permanent Resident card for 8 years so...

NOT SURE WHETHER I SHOULD HAVE CHECKED OFF on Part 1. Have Been a Permanent Resident for at least 5 years OR Permanent resident & spouse of US citizen.

I checked the first box since it seemed like a lot of stuff to add to the packet filing as spouse of US citizen.

IS THIS THE RIGHT THING TO DO?

Thanks!

Thanks! I got my GC through my spouse but I've been here so long now. I just thought it would be easier to go through the 5 year route.

I am long overdue...life just got in the way ha!

Why would I check both because on the form it specifically says only to check one.

Thanks

Yeah, I believe you could go either way whichever you prefer. You qualify for citizenship under both cases, so it is your pick. The fact that you originally got your PR status through marriage to a US citizen in this case no longer weights any importance over it anymore since you "abused" your stay! ;)

Eeek!!! Abused my stay oh nooo!

lol

Thanks appreciate the feedback :)
