Is it possible to move to Ethiopia and still be able to travel to US?

This is just a general question and I don't know who can answer this or if this is the right place to ask...

I am US Citizen my spouse is in Ethiopia. We are going through the process. I am asking on "just in case" basis. If for any reason we get a No at the interview which from what I can see here even if we have everything and we are 100% marrying for love you still can get a No at interview. so my question is what would my steps be moving to Ethiopia ? can I live there and still be able to travel to America any time I please? im asking because I have been to Ethiopia twice and every time I get my visa it only states 3 months and it expires so if im staying for years what process do I take for that? I am not wishing any bad on this process trust me I love living here but its just a general question that I been thinking about , I just don't see if we get a no that I can ever stay separate from my spouse for more years trying and trying again to get him here I would think the simple way is just move there with him and travel here on my own when I want to .... thanks for feedback if there is any

Visa Received : 4/13/2016 ( they sent us a email stating our visa was ready for pick up)

Social Security : 5/10/2016 (filed from the actual office)
State ID: 5/14/2016
Started working!!: 5/25/2016
Finally paid green card fee: 6/24/2016 ( note said we will receive it within 60 days)
Green card in hand: 7/5/2016 10 year green card we done!! 

1st king born: 6/30/2016

April 2017 update: Marriage still going strong, baby boy getting bigger. Life is good

You would need to get an appropriate visa to live permanently in Ethiopia. You are a US Citizen so you can always come to the US, when you wish.

You would need to get an appropriate visa to live permanently in Ethiopia. You are a US Citizen so you can always come to the US, when you wish.

I would check the Ethopian embassy of the US, or google spousal visa Ethiopia, or look for an Ethiopian immigration webpage (official) and see what you find.

Worst case scenario is you just renew your tourist visa or take a short hop to another country and back for fresh new visa. Years ago I worked there for an American company and we would just fly out and back in if we were about to expire.

21 FEB 2013: Transit Visa picked up in Chicago for Japan

Im married to a wonderful ethiopian...........with a US passport you can get a 30 day visa at the airport ....show them your marriage cert and the will give you a 90 day visa for the same price 400 bar.

After being married 1 year you can apply for a non-resident visa that is good for 1 year.....also 400 bar.

You do not need to leave the county to renew any visa

oh the two times I went there they stamped 90 days without even asking me why I was there lol they asked no questions stamped me and pushed me along.. if its after 90 days I can still stay and just wait the year and get a non resident visa even though my entrance visa will be expired?

thanks for the info I wouldn't of had enough money to leave every three months anyways just to come back lol . do you live there now?

its good to know because I believe when we get older near retirement we will move there for a bit so its good to know this now for later

Renewing the visa is easy but do not ever let your visa expire.......there are things you will need your passport for they they will look at your visa.

Just remeber your not in the US and a visa matters in other countries......and if something happens you will want to go to the american Embassy and they will ask you about your visa.

that's what I was wondering if I only got a 90 day visa how would I get a non resident visa as mentioned above after a year.. that would mean my visa will expire so if need be I need to search for a visa or something that I can get before my visa expire is what I was thinking . I was thinking like in the US once your visa expire then your there illegally so I by no means wanted any of those issues.

renew every 90 days at the immigration office ...plan to spend all day get there early......and make sure you have someone with your that speaks the language.....
