So, I'm in a bit of a pickle and could use some advice. I'm a US citizen, the sponsor for my wife, and we are going into the immigration interview in 2 weeks for the I-485. I have a problem with my proof of identity. My passport has expired, but I do have a driver's license. The problem is I've lived in Texas for the past 3 years and still have my Washington State driver's license. I applied through the immigration process (I-130, I-485, etc) using my WA state license, but I realize it might raise some red flags for the interview. The reason I never got a Texas license is because my Washington one is still valid for 2 more years and I've NEVER driven in the state of Texas. Should I be worried about this? The WA state driver's license is my only valid form of govt picture ID. I think I have two options:

1. Go to the interview with my WA license and explain the reason I never changed it (I just used it as ID purposes, I've never driven in the state of Texas)

2. Go to the DMV and get my temporary Texas driver's license. But will a temp driver's license be considered a valid form of ID at the interview?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I'm really not sure what to do.

I would get the temporary Texas DL, then you will actually have 3 forms of ID you can use: the temporary Texas DL; the still valid Washington State DL (I don't believe you have to turn it in), and your expired passport. Even though it is expired, it supports your other documentation. They just wish to verify that the person who has shown up for the interview is the same one who is listed in the documentation as invited to the interview. They aren't trying to trick you - they just want to know it is you from government issued photo ID.

Good luck at the interview :) .

I'd go to the DMV and get a TX license - it'll probably show up in time if you do it tomorrow, mine showed up in a week. However the temporary one you get straight away has your photo on it and all the same details as your permanent license so it is a valid form of ID too.

How have you managed to avoid driving for 2 years.....?!
