Hello all, My wife has been in the U.S. almost a year now and has her resident card. Finally now that it's all over with we would like to explore having her father and sister visit, has anyone had any experience with bringing family members over to visit?

What kind of cost and timeline are we looking at?

Thank you in advance.

I have asked that your post be moved to the right forum, there is a guide at the top or just go on the Consulate web site.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Hi,

Check out this link from the US Embassy Manila website:

http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwhniv7.html

It will explain how one applies for a Visitors Visa. The cost for each applicant is $160. The last time I checked, the processing time was approximately 1 week NOT taking into consideration obtaining an interview date. My wife's family members applied and were granted an interview 1 month out. While they were unsuccessful, each case/applicants situation is different. Establishing "significant ties" is the most important aspect. Read the guide, it's quite inclusive.

Good luck.

I read the link provided and it basically states you have to prove you will come back. No ideas on how to do that except family business etc ties... While they will have family ties undoubtedly, my wifes family is poor, so there are zero econmic incentives for return. In her case is it possible for me to get her here to visit for the birth of her grandchild?

Thanks every for ideas on how to proceed.

Bill
