hi!

I'm applying to register adjust status. I entered the country as a tourist (B2) on december 2013 and got married on may 2014 with my present husband who is american. What do I have to check on the PART 2 of the I 485 form called Application Type? Is that "b" which says "my spouse or parent applied for adjustment of status"?

its "a". An immigrant visa petition giving me immediately available immigrant visa number has been approved and so on.

February 28- AOS package sent. ( I-130, I-485, I-765)
March 5- Package delivered to USCIS Chicago.
March 11- Email and text notification with Receipt Numbers.
March 14- Hardcopy of NOA1 for all three applications.
March 21- Received biometrics appointment letter for 04/04/2014
April 2 - Completed Walk in Biometrics appointment successfully. (Original Appointment was for 4th April)
April 9- I-485 Case status has been updated to " Testing & Interview "
April 16- Text and email alert for case update for AOS interview on 22nd May 2014.
April 18- Hardcopy of Interview notice received in mail.
May 22- AOS interview, approved on the spot and got stamp in my passport.
May 27 - Approval notice of I-130 and I-485 in mail.
May 29- Received GC in mail.

ROC Timeline:

03/28/2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

03/29/2016: Package delivered.

03/31/2016: cheque cached.

04/02/2016: Received NOA1 in mail, dated 03/29/2016.

04/13/2016: Received Biometrics notice for the date of 04/25/2016.

04/21/2016: Early walk in Biometrics

09/28/2016: Text and email alert about approval of ROC

10/06/2016: Received 10-years green card in mail

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

10/09/2014 - Received SMS and emails, 11PM (22)

10/10/2014 - Check cashed (23)

10/15/2014 - Received hard copies of NOAs (28)

10/23/2014 - Received Biometric Appointment Letter (for Nov 03) (36)

11/03/2014 - Completed Biometric (47)

11/06/2014 - "Testing and Interview" on I-485 (50)

11/14/2014 - Get the notification stating that our interview has been scheduled (58) on December 18th (92)

11/19/2014 - I-131 status moved to "Advance Parole Document Was Produced"

....

12/18/2014 - Interview (Day 92) , APPROVED ON SPOT

12/19/2014 - Emails and Texts saying I-130 has been approved and I-485 new card is being produced

12/29/2014 - Card was mailed

12/29/2014 - Card was Delivered. Best HAPPY NEW YEAR gift/greet ever!!!

No, it is A.

B refers to a being a derivative of a spouse's petition, which does not happen at all for spouses of USCs. USCs are not applying for AOS; they are already USCs.

ok If it is A I have to provide a "copy of the approval notice, or a relative....". What is it?

It says you can include a pending petition. Which is the I-130. Have to read through the parentheses.

but thanks for your answer anyway.

You are right that it isn't clear.

A I-130 is an immediate relative petition, that, when approved, will give you a visa number immediately.

This form is used by all people in many different situations, so they can't just say I-130.
