Hi all, I am very confused as what I need to do. We recieved an approval for a I129F. I went to the website it said and filled in that application and could not find any other 'steps' to take and decided to wait. It has been 4 months now and I have not received any package from the Sydney consulate. I wrote an email asking what I need to do next and got what seemed like a generic email back telling me how to check what stage the application is in. It wasn't any thing useful. I went through the process on the ustraveldocs website and paid. That was a few weeks ago now. I have tried calling the visa helpline a few times now and nobody there can give me an answer as to why I have not received any information.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice.

I was granted a K1 visa in 2010.

The US Consulate, Sydney website contains information regarding papers to prepare and submit during the next round.

4 months seems like a long time. I would confirm your postal address with the Sydney consulate via email and go back and read the I-129F instructions. I believe there is an intermediary step after acceptance of I-129F and receipt of instructions, probably paying another fee.

Was UStravelDocs helpful?

Did you fill in your forms from packet 3 and send them back to the consulate as proof of readiness for your interview?

I didn't recieve packet 3. So that's why I am confused. I filled out the DS-160 that's all the instructions I could see.

Packet 3 is what tells you to go online and fill in DS-160.

You should have gotten something like this: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/australia/39176/pdf/dsl-1076.pdf

Send an email to the sydney consulate, attach a copy of the NVC letter and ask them for you interview date. BTW, what email address you used last time? I have emailed them a few times and always got a response in less than 24h. Not automated response, a real person response. Based on my experience they are quite efficient so maybe if you send the NVC letter with your details they should be able to trace for you. I would do sooner rather than later as NA2 has an expire date.

I didn't receive that. I only knew to do the DS-160 from a letter from the NVC saying that they had received the approved I-129F and that they were forwarding it to the Consulate in Sydney.

See attachment.

It is possible that the Sydney consulate did not receive or misplaced your petition. When they get petitions they do contact the beneficiary with packet 3 (the link in my last post). I would email Sydney again with all of your information and thoroughly explain that you filled in form Ds-160 as per NVC email and are still awaiting an interview date so that you can proceed with police check and medical. It has been quite some time now, I would be concerned with the petition expiring.

I have emailed and called a few times now and haven't gotten any useful information. When I call they just tell me to wait for an email. When I email I get the same response:

Thank you for writing U.S. Visa Service Desk.

Please check the link below to view the status of your case.

Yours Sincerely,
U.S. Visa Service Desk

This isn't helpful at all.

I did get another email to try when I called today so I hope that they actually are able to help me.

Have you tried calling the NVC? Do they have your case number? With that case number you should be able to check the status on the CEAC site. That might give you more insight. As others here have stated, 4 months is a long time for nothing to be happening. Good luck!

Packet three was sent to me (the petitioner) via email. My spam filter ate it, but I was aware of that possibility to checking my spam filter daily. Be sure you've done that.

Who are you calling and emailing? Any contact we had with the Sydney Consulate was immediate and personal, no form letters.

The same thing happened for us just the other week. My fiancee received the packet 3 email as she is the petitioner. She forwarded it to me, I contacted the consulate for my updated case number and everything is good.

There is obviously a new procedure with the Sydney consulate not requiring the sending in of items prior to the interview date. It states in the email we received:

"In preparation for your scheduled appointment please refer to our instructions below. Please note that our website is undergoing changes that may conflict with the attached instructions, please do not follow our website guidance and follow instructions below."

FWIW, we DID have to send everything in ahead of time. I have no idea if that changed since February, but the fact that the x-rays didn't make it to Sydney, since there were competency issues with the Melbourne doc, delayed the issuing of my husband's VISA.

And you're welcome for the note. (My husband found the discrepancies and made huge fusses with them, and chased the complaint about three different sets of instructions and the confusion it caused as far up the ladder as he could; they promised they'd update the email they sent out and it looks like they listened!)
