I was required to obtain a new I-94 number!

Would like to clarify what happened because the date of entry is confusing.

Initially, I couldn’t find my I-94 number online. I was directed to the US Customs and Border Protections office in Phoenix, AZ to obtain the form. The officer there indicated that the country of origin associated with the I-94 was incorrectly marked (that's why I couldn't find it online) and that I have to go to Nogales, AZ to get the form corrected. I guess because it is physical border.

At the Port of Entry in Nogales, the officer corrected the I-94 to show real country of origin (as in my passport), however he also adjusted the date of entry into the US, May 22nd 2014. This concerns me because I actually arrived at the New York JFK Port of Entry on March 4th 2014 and did not leave the US after.

I'm filling the documents to adjust my status, the date of entry is important for that, so I'm wondering do I have a problem and what should I do about it

Did the officer say something or did you ask why he moved your POE date (Most recent date of entry) to May 22nd? I'm afraid you might need to visit the Deferred Inspection site again to have this corrected. But I would suggest to try calling them up first and see if they can correct it through a phone call request.

oh, there's no way to get any answer by phone from US Customs and Border Protections. I tried.

The officer at the border said they couldn't not change the country of origin associated with my current I-94. That was a mistake on the NY port of entry, on my date of entry March,4th.

He said he could only supply me with the new I-94.

I thought it was ok, not thinking. He even extended my stay for the next 6 months. So I got new I-94 with the date when I was on the border May 22.

I came to US on my vacation, as a visitor on March, planed to stay a month, but things changed and I stayed longer, got marry to my US boyfriend, and we want to try to do adjusting of status for me.

This thing with my I-94 is iritating. Don't know how to fix this mess.

I see. That's quite strange though as I personally don't think they can change your POE date just like that because it is a record of your arrival or admission to US, even if they have extended your I-94 validity. I had a positive experience with Newark NJ though. I guess it depends on the CBP Deferred Inspection site.

If I were you, I would keep on pressing them to give a correct I-94 info nonetheless before putting any incorrect information on your I-130 and I-485. Hope you get it sorted soon.

I can't do anything else???

I was at the CBP office today, I said to officer that I can't fill my I-485 with date of entry May 22, how big problem is for me.. officer said that I should be fine with that, just to write explanation for that.

After I went to USCIS to ask. She was like, but you came in again on May 22. I DID NOT! Than told me to ask a lawyer.

Take a print out of both I-94s and explain about getting the I-94 corrected, but when they corrected it, they changed the entry date, so it is still incorrect.
