Helloo :)

I was just wondering what a I could expect, workwise, from moving in the US (Memphis)

I only have an HSdiploma (want to go back to college once I will be a GCholder) and 2years experience as a receptionist.

What kind of job do you think I could get? I speak 4 languages fluently but no spanish (french, german, english, other) I plan on taking english classes but will these extra languages be an asset or not? Is spanish more important than any of these?

I'm really worried about working in the US...

I may not be far in my visajourney but I'd like to know what I should expect...

I thank you all in advance for your help !!

don't worry. English is the language you should worry about. I speak 3 languages (spanish, english and french). When you get there you will find job opportunities. Maybe call center, restaurant, recepcionist. You start from the bottom and work your way up. Let things happen and don't plan ahead. take everything a step at a time. you will find something. i was raised in the u.s my entire life and of course because of my various languages that'll give me a better chance of getting a job. interact with latin americans, americans etc...

Hello Mirhen :)

If I am not mistaken Tennessee and Missouri (my home) are about the same so I will be totally honest with you if I may.

HS Diploma gives you certain advantage if you live outside Memphis because you could get easily a job fast....but also you could lose a job that quickly, forget for now in getting a permanent job since most companies will hire mostly as temporary through "employment agencies" (Kelly's, Focus Staffing, Aerotek) to work in manufacturing or shipping factories where the language doesn't matter at all but only the basic.

Maybe, with luck, some company will look and hire you as permanent with very good benefits.

That's true that Spanish plays an important part in the US but unless is required having English is enough to get a job, people don't care if you speak other languages as long you know English.

Make sure get your EAD (Work Authorization) when applying for green card to be able to work.

Hope it helps....my regards :)

Shame you're not in Chattanooga where that (relatively) new VW plant opened. I'm sure they would love multi-lingual employees.

I love a guy who looks like he could be on Criminal Minds as either an agent or a killer.
