Confused about U.K Police Certificate

Hi,

My passport is currently being renewed with a change in name and I need to get my police certificate done. I have some copies of the passport that is being renewed, so I called ACRO to see if I could submit these and/ or other photo I.D. At first I was told I could and that a passport wasn't needed, but then she backtracked and said it might cause problems later on at my interview if I don't use the same passport throughout the process. Any advice? Does your police certificate have your passport number on?

Thanks!

The police report does have the passport # on the form. To be safe, I would renew the passport and then send the copy of the new one with the police report. Usually the police report takes about 10 business days, or you can do a 2 day service which cost more..

Not sure if it will cause issues down the line if you use a different passport though. I know there were a few people that had their passports renew just before their interviews.

I renewed my passport after the initial i-129f application (during the process). I just took both passports to the interview, however they weren't interested in seeing the old one.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the information. I am going to try doing the 2 day fast track for the police certificate. I have copies of my old passport, they also have a copy at immigration as I sent it off during the initial application, so will just try it and see how it goes. Unfortunately MrsNuur I was advised by the post office that my passport would be back within 3 weeks, so I sent it off and now looking at different forums, it seems its taking over a month to get the passports renewed. If the passports not back by the end of next week then I shall try and see if I can get it fast tracked.

I emailed the embassy regarding this issue a while back. Here's the reply

Thank you for your email.

If you have changed your name, you should complete a new DS-160 under that new name. When you appear for your interview at the Embassy, you must ensure that you provide the most up-to-date form. your visa will be issued in the same name as your passport.

Please note that, if you have changed your name since obtaining a police certificate, you will require a new one, showing both your previous and new names.

Sincerely,

I also did the two day service for police certificate. Sent Wednesday afternoon and arrived Saturday morning

Hi LDN2DEN,

All my visa forms are in my married name. On the police certificate form I plan on using my married name and providing a copy of my marriage certificate as proof of name change. Do you think this will be acceptable?

Thanks

That's fine.

I changed my name by deed poll a month ago. The embassy said that as long as I had my deed poll, passport and CRB check all in the same name it was fine :)

Hope this helps you
