:help: Would anyone happen to know what the meaning of this message left on the NVC voice response concerning our case mean?

"The NVC is awaiting the return of the biographic forms from the petitioner, once this packet is received allow 6 to 8 weeks for the reviewing for all of your documentation and you will be notified of the outcome of the review."

The IV fee bill was recently paid and I am now wondering if they are refering to the return of the DS-230 since those are the only forms left to complete. I was confused by the fact that the voice response said they are awaiting the biographic forms from the PETITIONER. Does the NVC actually mean the beneficiary? Does the beneficiary become the petitioner once you are this far along in the process? Or are they saying they are awaiting the forms from me (the petitioner ) because I am the agent of choice?

I hope I haven't confused anyone with the question and hope that someone can figure this out for me and answer the question. Oh and one more thing does it really take 6 - 8 weeks to process the DS-230? Thanks!

Pam&Mbaye:

I asked this same exact question recently (on 1/3/2007).

That is the NVC message which really means that they have generated and mailed the DS-230 to the Choice of Agent they have on file.

It is a confusing message because, as you correctly stated, they are REALLY waiting on the Biographic Information OF the BENEFICIARY.

The message is so confusing that the live operator I spoke with at NVC was confused when I told her what the message said. She told me to ignore the message, but verified for me that the DS-230 had been mailed out to me.

Also... I just received my DS-230 in the mail today (1/15/2007), but I have already sent it in using James' Shortcuts (I sent it in the same day I got clarification of the NVC message). Of course I got my wife's signature far in advance so I would be ready to send it in as soon as possible.

Yes, they mean the beneficiary. There was a recent post here on VisaJourney discussing the same topic. I got the same message and I took it to mean that the DS-230 had been generated. You are always the petitioner and she is always the beneficiary as far as I know. I immediately mailed in the DS-230 package using James Shortcuts, but our package was fairly minimal (DS-230, barcode cover sheet, and a copy of the biographic page of her passport). The message was updated about a week later to indicate that they had received our package. I think you may need to send in more info because Kenya is in Africa and I believe they have different requirements. I'm sure you already know all about that.

It took two weeks to finally receive the DS-230 package from NVC; I think there was a little delay because of the holidays. It looks like recent submissions are taking about a month to complete after NVC receives the DS-230 package. So hopefully you will hear something sooner than the 6-8 weeks listed in the automated system. Good luck.
