Hello all,

We are finalizing our I-864 forms and have a pressing question!

I've been living in Japan for 12 years with my Japanese wife and we have been married for 10 years.

We have taken our time with the visa, so between the I-130 and now, we sold our house and moved in anticipation for moving to the US. We are still in Japan though, same city, in fact!

Do I need to adjust MY address with the NVC?

I looked online, but only saw forms to change address in the US...

I'm freaking out!!!

I'll still get mail from my old address with no problems... But should I send in the I-864 with my new address???

Help!!!!!!

Unless the address in the USA has changed or you need to receive mail from the Consulate prior to the interview, this is an issue you can deal with at the interview, as needed.

Hi Jeff,

I'm an American citizen living in Ukraine with my Ukrainian wife. My question for you is:

Do you receive document/receipts from the USCIS?

I ask because I haven't received anything. Just the occasional email. (It's been six months.)

And when I called and talked to a USCIS officer he said, "Oh, that's because we don't mail anything overseas."

Any info would be great...and best wishes in your journey, too.

Mark

USCIS doesn't issue visas. When the Embassy in Kiev gets your case, you might get mail from them. They are part of the Dept. of State. USCIS is part of Homeland security.

USCIS already answered you by saying they don't send mail outside the USA. However, if they produce an RFE, they will send it to the petitioner's address on file. Don't trust the USCIS misinformation line. Other than an RFE, you don't need anything from USCIS by mail.

Thx, Pushbrk. Of course, that's my issue. The address they have on file is the one I gave on the form, which is here in Ukraine where my wife and I live.

So since they don't send things overseas, how would I ever get an RFE if they wanted to mail one?

I saw no line on any of the forms that says: "If you reside outside of the U.S. please give us a U.S. address to mail things to."

But, okay...here's hoping there's no RFE for this round.

Thanks so much for your quick input! :-)

They would send it overseas, the person who told you they didn't send things overseas is flat out wrong.
