I got married on 12/28/06 in Germany, to a German national.

This means I must file my 2006 Income Tax as married, correct? (Regardless of her citzenship?)

Follow up: If I file as married, can I file jointly?

Don't know if you can file as married - but if yes then she needs a SSN or ITIN in order for you to be able to claim her as a dependent.

I dont think that you can file for 2006 as married...

when I got married my husband had to file single since

he was single for most of 2002. So you will probably have to

file single and then next year you can file joint or as married...

hope this helped a little!
