I cant remember if the courier company that delivers the visas for the London Embassy allows pick up from their local depots. It might save you a day or two. You could always ask when you are paying their fee.

It does allow local depot pick up and that's free as opposed to the home delivery service. Of course if you don't have a depot near you then it's not worth it, I was lucky enough to have one within 5 miles.

Husband went and paid the 30 pound fee already online not long later I found a convo on here about it not being that much.. Annoying ly too late of course. Our nearest depot is Livingston. 2 hrs away I think, wondered if you can catch it on its way up if need be, or if you have to decide ahead of time.

You only have until [two hours before interview] to change the location where your visa documents will be delivered. After the time indicated above, the option to change the courier location will be deactivated from your account and at this point no courier changes will be allowed.

Delivery upgrade of your visa application documents to a personal or business address is available for 30.00 USD.

^^^ Copied from the web page after paying for my visa. I'm going to pick up the package from the depot, so don't know if home delivery can be cancelled online. Though it looks like you can certainly change the depot location for delivery. You could always ask your H to log into his account and check if there's an option to cancel. Failing that, it might be possible to call the Livingston office ask them to cancel home delivery:

Good luck trying to get a refund. IT also may confuse matters. You dont want your package going missing in the last stretch.

True. Plus we thought it was pounds but it is 30 bux, so not so bad after all.

Where abouts in Scotland do you stay? I was told that DX would not deliver to my postcode so it got passed to the Royal Mail. I think this added an extra day on.

Sorry not trying to scare you, but it might be different for you.

Btw despite being told DX do not deliver to my postcode, since then I've seen countless DX vans pass me...

also how long did it take you to get visa back after interview? we have booked the flight already oops and only given ourselves 10 days one of which is July 4th. Double oops.

Yeah looks like the courier home delivers to Dundee, depot is livingstone an hr away, so we paid for home delivery. hope it comes in time, ahhhhhh! I don't think they allow you to intercept it from the depot without letting them know when you book it on the website and before you know if it will be delivered to home in time.

I looked up the embassy holidays, and because it is USA embassy, it says they are off. I would be very glad if they still process visas that day, but I doubt it. hopefully they process our visa on the day after our interview.. The 3rd, then ship it before the embassy is closed.. The courier is inside embassy.. So not sure if it gets a holiday too. Lots of unknowns .

You can change the delivery until the day of your interview. You can also probably call the local depot when you get the email from the US Visa guys. You can find the numbers here.
