My visa arrived just four days after my interview, they do seem to be pretty quick at the moment. Just make sure you tell them when you are planning on travelling at the interview- in my case I was asked but in case they don't.

Alot will depend on what is available at that time. My lady had to go a bit further out since the closer ones were booked. Her interview is on Fri June.

I stayed in the Copthorne Tara in Knightsbridge. I managed to get a good deal.

It is just down from the High Street Tube Station and took about a 45 minute walk through the park to get to the embassy.

I also travelled down from Scotland the night before so I know how you feel

There are two listed in the UK guide/portal, but when I checked tripadvisor I decided against it.

The interview it's self is pretty straightforward. In my case I was only asked just two questions. The visa arrived within two weeks as the CO told me. And dx secure is great too. Good luck

2 weeks? Eek we have allowed 8 days to get visa taking off holiday and Sunday . Not feeling good about that now.

Maybe we should buy travel insurance.

I got it through lastminute.com. I think it came up as a secret hotel. It was still over £100 for the night though.

The embassy is not in a cheap part of town...

Some Consulates/Embassies, offer same day issuance of visas. The US consulates in Germany as example offer this service. You might have to wait a couple hours, but you can pick up your passport with the printed visa in it on the same day you had your interview. Email them to find out.

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...
