Hello all, need everyones help. Is there anyone here who has had a relative apply for a tourits visa from Ukraine lately? I have a friend here in Houston and he wants to bring his mother for a visit, but they are scarred thay do not have enough proof for embassy. His mother owns the flat she lives in and has been married for 32 years. She has had to have some medical treatment and there will be some follow up needed in Ukraine. My question is is the property ownership and the long term marriage enought proof to return to Ukraine to satisfy the US Embassy. Is there any ideas from anyone else? What kind of questions will they ask her, my friend is nervous.

How will she pay for the medical treatment?

I think that is happening in Ukraine.

I would imagine the current situation does not help.

Hello all my friend is applying for his mother to visit. The only proof she has to return is proof of ownership of a flat in Keiv and she has been married 32 years, she does not want to stay in the USA Ukraine is her home. Would the be enough evidence for a tourist visa to be issued? She does not work and will have surgury next week. Does anybody have any advice? And can anybody tell what kind of questions they will ask. Should he buy the plane ticket so she can show it to the embassy staff?

If she can show that she must have that treatment and that treatment can only be done in the Ukraine, then it seems something to stress.

Maybe. Does she have stamps in her passport of travel to other countries? That helps a lot. If not, then maybe so and maybe no.

Send of letter from you outlining her trip and the timeline to bring her to the airport to return. It helps sometimes.

And can anybody tell what kind of questions they will ask. Should he buy the plane ticket so she can show it to the embassy staff?

No

Duplicate thread in the RUB Regional forum has been moved and merged with this existing thread in the correct forum- Tourist Visas.

Please do not start a new topic in more than one forum - it won't get your more answers as people will think you have already been answered elsewhere and won't respond or it becomes confusing when all of the information is not in the same location. :)

The US Embassy specifically advises visa applicants not to pay for travel arrangements including plane tickets without visas in hands.

A plane ticket does not prove a tie to the Ukraine. It proves she has a plane ticket. The US Embassy will not care that she bought a plane ticket.

If she is having surgery, when can she travel (according to her doctors)? And for how long can she allegedly be away from whatever follow up care may be required? Is there a grandchild about to be born?

Do not buy airline tickets before the visa is granted....airline tickets are not considered proof that the applicant will return...it just shows two things: (1) the applicant bought an airline ticket and (2) the applicant did not heed the advice (about NOT buying tickets in advance!) given by the embassy.
