No, they don't vary by state but rather by company, but I would get that in writing.

maybe i should just buy a $500 POS off craigslist lol. That's probably how much I'd pay in lessons/rental combined anyway!

but, yeah, i would prefer to go the lessons route.

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!

I did that in Switzerland...lessons...granted I had nobody to teach me (and manual is harder imo) but it was a matter of being comfortable ..."just in case" type thing...i am sure you won't need many lessons anyways and eventually could rent one (if you can with the hubs ;) ) and practice that way to save some money.

I did a quick search and it says that if you were to drive the car also you would need a DL and would need to be added on the rental contract (age over 25 ?) - generic rules I found online. So if they tell you that you can maybe they just feel like if you were to use it in the parking lot it is not a big deal and said yes ? But ya....get that in writing if you end up renting. lol

I had lessons and I really can't recommend it enough. It makes sure you don't pick up bad habits from the person teaching you, etc.

ya so I hear..he seems to think it is not because of that but because he is concentrating on making the new book as good as possible....shrugs

Yah but his story changed from when the series was announced to it being made, when his assurance was it would not slow down new book releases, to now he's just making sure its good, even though its a couple years late coming out with no release even scheduled.

Congrats on last post :dancing:

honestly....if you can do more hours per day with rented car I would go with that....you just need to trust yourself...you know where gas and break is .....I don't think you need someone next to you with the ability to stop the car.....you could also do one lesson with instructor see how you feel and then next time rent a car so you get more hours of practice ....if that would make you more comfortable....is what I would do anyways.

on a second thought....did you ever drive before ?

even in parking lot ?
