She in the car with her FIL

Great ! I hope that they have a meaningful talk about the toothless wonder and said FIL has a talk with the miscreant and things improve.

Otherwise - he can drop her in a densely-populated area, claiming he lost her during a restroom-stop.

I dunno - I don't see things changing - with the control-monster :

--taking the miscreant to work in her car each day then

--working alongside him at the same place for 8 to 10 hours each day then

--taking the miscreant home in her car each day then

--stuffing a recently unfrozen pizza in his mouth...

She has too much influence over him in a 12 hour period - 5 days a week - so it's excessively hard to break the cycle of co-depedency after her failings to get him through high school and learn a trade.

IMO - that's why she's overprotective of him - to hide/cover up her failings with him in an earlier phase of his life-cycle.
