rant: I really don't understand why one person's success or good fortune should open everyone else to attempts to piggy back off them. I am having a really difficult time today with hubs in regards to giving his family money, which I flat out refuse to do. Is there I point where I should cede? What is so wrong with them working for it themselves? :( Feeling really conflicted, and am seriously upset with his behavior and attitude about this situation. It genuinely makes me feel like I am not his priority, and being number 2 feels spectacularly crappy when I always put him so far ahead of everyone else.

Sigh.

I would absolutely not give money to his family, because they'll ask for more and more and more. I'd give them whatever you'd give your own family in dollar value for Christmas and birthdays.

Have you worked with anyone to protect your money in the case of a divorce? Not that you are going to, but people change when there is money around.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.

Question: money inheritance from family is it considered matrimonial assets?

Depends, but if received during the marriage it can be up for grabs in many states. That is why my money stays in my own bank account and we have a post-nuptial agreement.

If i read it right inheritance is not considered (depending on state) marital property unless they combine it, buy a house jointly with it, put it in a shared bank things like that. But heck this is one of those times where joint bank account is not wise, and a lawyer is. Think of future kids, that also need to be protected from the vultures.

Sorry to hear that. Some people really have no integrity. It is much easier to munch off others hard work money than to work hard on their own.

It is your own money, your own inheritance. He or his family should not be asking for anything.

They should have "tips are appreciated but not expected" line of thinking.

Isn't your hubs out of work now? And you are supporting your household?

I respect a man who works his ### off for his family than stretching out his hands for slice of your windfall.

Done with K1, AOS and ROC

I can so much relate to that. I could literally feel the pent up stress washing away when I got out of the house with her. I really have no idea how I put up with it for so long.
