Hi everyone.

I have been member of this forum since I was working on my immigration to USA and it was more than helpfull to me.

Now, I have a question regarding to my friend situation.

She is US citizen and she is planing to go abroad to Bosnia to get married to a guy she met over internet few months ago and bring him here to USA and I am happy for them and I want to help them.

I read the forum topics and I found a lot of info but I would like someone to respond to me.

How long it takes thesedays to bring the spouse to USA ( it used to be almost one year)?

Is it better to get married there and avoid K1 visa ( as he doesnt have a job and never traveled and they never seen each other in person so she is affraid they will reject him)?

Any info , advice suggestion is valuable.

Thank you all!

You can get the information you need in the guide: ---> http://www.visajourney.com/content/guides

The IR/CR process is still taking a year, provided there is no AP involved. Whether a K-1 or IR/CR is preferred for your friend depends on their particular circumstances. Have them look at the requirements for both processes so they can make a decision based on their specific situation.

Good luck!

I expect they would reject them. She wants to marry a guy she has never met....words fail me. Well they dont but I better not write them here.

She is getting way ahead, make a few trios, see how it goes.

US Immigration may not be the way to go if time is the issue, it is slooow.

i am guessing they havent still met in person,if she comes here for the first time and they marry it could go a lil harder, people in the immigartion dont like to see applications of people getting married first time they meet, they shoud think about it a lil bit,if they do decide to do it that way, they should spend some time together first when she comes to bosnia, take a few trips gather some evidence, have a wedding not just marry, good luck,i dont think it can take less then 12 months

Whats wrong with marring person who they meet first time. Call it a arrange marriage.

I am from India and arrange marriage is still norm there.

But if she does not know him and know anyone around him I will be very cautious.

Get properly married, with video, photo, all the proof and they should not have problem filling i130.

She can go there when interview date comes and that will even make process easy.

K1 would be faster... After they meet, submit the proof of meeting and keep records of correspondence etc... 6-8 months and they'll be together... Spouse visa is 12-15 months...

10/14/2000 - Met Aboard a Cruise ship

06/14/2003 - Married Savona Italy

I-130

03/21/2009 - I-130 Mailed to Chicago lockbox

11-30-09: GOT GREEN CARD in mail!!!!!!

Citizenship Process;

1/11/2013: Mailed N400 to Dallas Texas

3/11/2013: interview.. Approved

4/4/2013. : Oath! Now a U.S. citizen!

For the fiancée visa they have to have proof that they met in the last two years and fiancée visas get rejected more often then spouse visas. There is a lot of people on this forum who got rejected for a fiancée visa and then got married and filed for spouse visa. Spouse visa can take a few months longer, but its half the price of a finance visa and you have a green card as soon as you enter the USA. I DON'T care how old she is, she can take some time to go visit him or vice versa, spend some time together and THEN get married.! The forum is full of sad frusturating stories because people where rushing into things. I dated my husband for two years before marriage.
