That's about as brilliant as the tea partiers who talk about the federal budget like it's a household budget.

and if almost all of us can agree on that. Why is that so hard

A. Because both sides dont want it fixed

Neither side wants to upset their various groups..

Democrats don't want to upset a fast growing minority.

Republicans don't want to upset the money from the businesses that use them.

Cowards all.

They are not cowards. That would intimate that there is a willingness to resolve the issue, by implementing a solution that will stem the tide of illegal immigration.

There is no such thing in Washington. There is only political advantage on both sides, be it votes and money on the Democrat side, or just money on the Republican side. Neither side has the interests of the US electorate at heart, only their own political ambition.

It will take something extraordinary to happen, for something to be done to resolve this ongoing issue. <_<

As more American states legalize/decriminalize marijuana, the cartel issue in Mexico is going to get worse (people with money and guns don't just go away when their business model begins to erode) and it will become a matter of national importance over the next decade or so. There will be US military intervention. Mexico will end up anywhere between a vassal state of the US or splintered into a few pieces with the northern regions part of the U.S.

It's coming and building a physical wall there today will only make it harder when the time comes.

Meh.. There is always some issues with a transition but the legalization of pot in the end will be like the end of prohibition. The cartels will first move to harder drugs and shrink in size over time.

They could always put int lots and lots and lots on landmines at the border.

Landmines? Yes, because we see how well that has worked out in Cambodia and Laos.

As for the cartels, they are armed to go to war. These aren't some Italian guys outta New York. A closer parallel would be al Qaeda.

I will back an amnesty program, when the influx is stopped .

That will of course require a different executive, as the current one has proven himself untrustworthy at carrying out the laws of the land and has lost all credibility when it comes to keeping agreements.

That's how brainstorming works.. Throw out ideas and see where they go. Maybe the landmines could be non-lethal.. Instead of exploding they could pray some permanent ink or skunk odor or sticky glue

I prefer solutions involving lasers in some capacity..

I don't remember signing up to support 60,000+ children from other countries....why don't the taxpayers have a say in this stupid amnesty? We'll just reward those who have zero respect for our laws....what horse manure....ship 'em home...tomorrow. We have enough AMERICAN kids who need better education, jobs for their parents, opportunity, etc...we don't need to pander to those from other countries who just ship their brats up here for freebies....(except those freebies are not free!.)...and guess what....after a few months here, the parents will then whine for some sort of special visa to 'accompany' their illegal brats 'just while they are going to school....' (at whose expense??)...sorry....vaya con el diablo...

And Obama asked for another Billion in emergency funding to provide shelter, food and Medical care.

Awesome, that will really encourage them not to flood the border
