Hello everyone.

I'm a new member and this is my 1st post. I hope someone can help me with my query...

I got approved for my N400 interview on April 25. I then received a notification that I'm on queue for oath ceremony. Most people that I know have received their oath letter within 15 days with no problems. It's now almost 40 days and I have not received any...

what could be the reason for the delay? Is my case common? What steps should I take next?

I'm getting a bit frustrated... Please help

Looks like you would be taking your Oath in Los Angeles, and their schedule states the next ceremony is June 18. You may get scheduled for that ceremony and will receive notice this week. I would call the USCIS and ask to speak with a Tier 2 officer and ask that officer this specific question: Why has my Oath ceremony not been scheduled even though I have been in the Oath ceremony que since (insert date here) and there was an Oath ceremony on May 21 and the next one is June 18 and coming up quickly.

Please report back what happens! And good luck.. :)

are you checking uscis check status online with your case number.call the 1-800-375-5283 ask whats going on.

i check everyday, no change

My status changed the same day after the interview, for my spouse it took forever and only started to move after I called the local USCIS director.

my lawyer told me to wait after the 45th day. Maybe I should call USCIS!

Did you call USCIS and spoke to tier2 officer? If not then do that as most of the times they are helpful is resolving these kind of issues. They might have sent you one but it was lost in mail.

thanks for the reply.... i hope it didn't get lost :(

My service center is San Bernardino, I would like to think my oath should take place in Pomona?

Did you request a name change by any chance?

yes i did....

Name change can delay your oath ceremony for as long as 6months. In usual circumstances when there's no name change involved you can be sworn in at administrative ceremony in your local office, but during name change USCIS doesn't have jurisdiction over name change, so you are required to attend judicial oath ceremony in court, because judge is the one who approves your legal name change. I had to wait 4months for my oath, but if there's no rush than just relax it will come soon. Try to call up customer service and request to be transferred to Tier 2 officer. They might already have your oath date and not send the notice 30 days prior the ceremony. That's what happened in my case. I hope it helps, good luck.

Yes, the name change request is what is causing the delay. It is a separate piece of legal business that has to happen prior to your oath ceremony and they may have to wait for the judge to finalize that first, before they can schedule your oath ceremony. I don't think your notice has been lost in the mail, it is just some of the normal delays when you are dealing with legal paperwork.

The San Bernardino field office is the one I went through as well and had my Oath in L.A. The schedule for the Oath Ceremonies is online http://www.cacd.uscourts.gov/clerk-services/naturalization-ceremony-locations-and-schedule

It doesn't look like Pomona has any scheduled so you will most likely go to Los Angeles as well. All Los Angeles ceremonies are judicial ones and everyone gets sworn in as in a "courtoom". You're not allowed to take photos of the judge or anything during the actual ceremony.

Call USCIS and ask for Tier 2 officer. Speak with the officer and ask the specific question.

Fellas

I am going through a similar frustrating experience with our citizenship process.

We cleared our interview on Apr 22nd 2014 and were placed in line for Oath scheduling on Apr 25th.

It is Jun 5th today (45 days) and still no news.

Have scheduled an infopass appointment for Jun 12th and currently in line (since past 1 hour) to talk to the tier 2 officer on the 800 number.

Please let me know if any of you have similar experience around with Atlanta, GA office around the same time frame. Tryign to understand if it is the office in general, or something to do with my case in particular.
Are you aware of a big/marathon oath ceremony to be held in Atlanta? My IO had indicated that they are trying to hold a big ceremony together during July timeframe.
Thanks

I am waitting on atlanta judicial oath ceremony since june 2013 .....any one got judicial oath ceremony schedule letter for august date 2014..??

If you look at timelines from other months, you'll see that Atlanta is notoriously slow; even slower than NYC, Boston, and other slow offices.

However, if you've been waiting for over a year, you need to contact USCIS and see what's happening. If you can't get things sped up on the phone or through an Infopass appointment, then you should contact your Congressman and explain your situation.

According to the information on the Atlanta field office, judicial ceremonies are held at least once per month, so even with a large backlog, you should have been scheduled by now. If it's been this long, chances are that your file has been forgotten and you need to do something to make them look at it.
