Hey guys - firstly congrats to everyone who has made it out the other side of all this red tape!!!

Myself and my Fiancee are planning to Marry this summer and she has filed for a K1 for me in Newark - so it should go to Vermont based on what I have read. Our case is very straight forward and we have used a lot of the advice we found on this site -so we are hoping it will have no problems - but you never know!

So my question is what is the shortest realisitic time I can hope to be called for Interview to the US Embassy in London? Is it going to be more than 6 months based on people's experiences? Or should I start knitting now and expect to have done a few hundred miles of blanket before its done? :)

Any advice - news - comments would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Phil (in Ireland)

Vermont is quicker than California. Do a search of timelines that include Vermont and London to get a representative example of what is realistic.

YMMV

Depending on how well put together your paperwork is, and how quickly you gather the stuff you need regarding packet 3 I'd say 6 months is realistic. This is assuming the case is fairly straight forward, IE, no criminal histories, no currently ongoing divorces and both of you are over 18, and that there are no overstays.

Edit to add: London slows down during the summer months due to people going on holiday, the above didn't include that..so depends on when you get packet 3 in.

While it's good to guesstimate the timeframe, it's vital to be prepared for unexpected delays. RFEs, new forms, interview backlogs, letters getting lost in the mail ... anything can happen. So don't buy any airline tickets or put down a deposit on a banquet hall until you actually have the visa in hand.

Got everything in order, no loopholes, no RFE-whatsoever, you'll probably get an interview date quicker than the rest of us here. VSC is known for fast approvals. If you thing you did a wonderful job in putting your packet together, you can get approved in a month or two, which is really faster than CSC. Just relax for now and see how things go. I hear knitting is really the best way to make yourself busy while waiting.

Unfortunately, there is no one here that can give you a definite time frame due to the individuality of each person's case. You can view the Processing Dates for your specific service center for a better idea.

No oen should go by those dates, they are usually very wrong. Searching the timelines is more up to date.
