Hello,

I know there's a contact number for the London embassy on their website but whenever I have called them they have been absolutely no help and it's really frustrating. I don't know how long it takes for an interview letter to be mailed after it has been scheduled but it's been a week now and I don't want to be one of those people who miss their interview because the embassy can't mail the letters out in time, I'd like a bit of notice so I can make plans for travel to London. So is there a number I can call that will actually help or be able to tell me what my interview date is?

Thanks

No. You can try using the contact form, they usually respond to that.

FWIW, it normally takes them a few weeks to send out interview letters so you're well within normal timescales.

How do you know it has been scheduled? I think the letters are generally in the post by the next day after assignment. To get information from the immigrant visa unit, you need to use the contact form http://london.usembassy.gov/niv/visa_contact_form.html Nobody answering the phone deals directly with spouse or fiancé visas so you get wrong information or no information.

Hello

I just went through this. Cal the NVC 603 334 0700 have all the info ready to verify who you are and they can tell you when the interview is scheduled and when the letter was put in the mail. It will be cheaper to have the USC make the call. If you have the info ready and are cordial you should have not problems. We were told the letter was put in the mail on the 29th of May and my lady got it on the 31st. No use in calling London. You can use the e-mail form but it takes about a week to receive an answer.

Thank you for your help, I called them and turns out it doesn't seem to have been scheduled yet, so I'm not sure what my second update was for after the update for them receiving all paperwork, I assumed it was for interview but maybe it was something else I don't know about that they had to update for.

I'll keep checking the CEAC and give NVC a call at the end of the week and hopefully there will be new info.

That update could have been when they received the medical. Have you sent in the form that tells them you are ready for the interview. If you have not they will not schedule one till they get that form. We got the notice and her interview is on the 6th of June. Not alot of time between the letter and the interview. Lucky she is ready.

Maybe it was receipt of your medical results?

Maybe it was receipt of your medical results?

My medical was completed and sent to the embassy 2 weeks before the embassy received my file from NVC so I don't think it was that, I also completed my DS-160 around the same time I did my medical and my readiness was done a day after the file arrived at London for which there was a previous update so when I got a second update a week later after everything had been submitted I assumed it was for my interview

I believe it is possible to have updates for

1) arrival of file

2) DS-260

3) Readiness

4) Medical results.

Your CEAC thing isn't always something to count on. What if your medical was sitting in the lost and found because there was no file when it arrived? Maybe they just found it and put it in your folder....and updated. Shouldn't be long now since everything is in.

Yeah that's a good point the update could have been my medical i can't really see it being anything else if NVC said my interview hasn't been scheduled yet. Thanks for your help

Ah ok, I'm sure you'll hear something soon then. Odd that Knightsbridge let you complete the medical before your file had arrived in London, I was told they'd stopped doing this.

As long as you have your case number you can do the medical when you want, I called NVC and got my case number when it was assigned

Interesting, other people have said that Knightsbridge are now insisting that your file is in London before they'll let you schedule a medical.

Knightsbridge don't know where your file is. They assume if you have an LND number that you got your letter from London. Back when we were "pushing" ahead it went like this once you got NOA2--

Immigrant: I want to make an appointment for a visa medical

Knightsbridge: Have you received your letter and packet from London?

Immigrant: YES (a lie)

Knightsbridge: Okay, when do you want to come?

They started asking for the LND number as a way to make sure you weren't booking way too early. You probably could make up an LND number because they wouldn't know. However having the medical too early can work against you.
