Hello,

My wife and I filed our I-130 last June (2013) in London and we have not received the DS-230 yet!

As we are not in a rush to get it all completed we simply left it but a year does seem a long time.

I have already tried

0203 606 6998

0207 499 9000

09042 450 100

These numbers simply offer no information at all. I also know that they have been filing these applications in 3-4weeks.

Any suggestions would be great.

Mike

They don't send a DS-230. Clarify what you have done because there are two agencies involved:

1) USCIS office in London- approves the petition.

2) Immigrant Visa Unit part of the embassy (Dept of State)- where the beneficiary applies for a visa and has an interview.

Where are you in the process...USCIS or Dept of State? Was your petition approved? If so then your instructions start here http://london.usembassy.gov/ivprocess.html but remember to also click the link in the right hand column that says "follow this link for further information" It will give you the visa instructions.

Hey,

Thanks for the information. I feel that I have been waiting for something that is never due to arrive! Never mind. We have received a notice of approval from the USCIS as well as a follow up letter from the Immigrant Visa Branch which begins as follows:

"We are pleased to inform you that we have received an approved petition in support of your immigrant visa application. The next step in the process is for you to complete the appropriate forms and collect the required documents."

Oh how silly, I assumed that they were going to send us the forms to complete. It's a good job that we are in no rush to get this all done.

So do I now download the forms, collect the relevant information and return a package to them?

Thanks

Mike

Mike,

It is all online now. Mailing forms to London ended Sept 1, 2013. London needs three things from you to give you an interview.

1) online submission of DS-260

2) medical results sent from the clinic. You will need your police certificate or photocopy to show at the medical so order that.

3) online submission of Readiness for Interview form when you have all your documents gathered and a medical appointment scheduled.

Instructions http://london.usembassy.gov/ds2001.html

Notice the online forms are in a box in the right column of that page.

Information about the medical, documents taken to the interview, courier, fees, etc are all topics in the left column. Read those topics. They all have information and further links. You won't learn everything if you read only th one instruction page. You have to show intent to domicile as part of the I864 because your wife is not currently residing in the US. That is covered under the left column link called I864 Affidavit of Support.

Hey Nick,

Thank you so much for all of the detailed and valuable information, I really appreciate you taking your time to do all of this. I will get on the case and get this process up and running again.

Thank you once again,

Mike

Here's some details about the medical that I wrote for K1s, but most will be exactly the same for DCF. The only difference is you can't wait to get your shots in the US. You won't be filing adjustment of status like a K visa, so need the shots all up to date before your medical day or pay for them at the medical.
